Read and make me an offer.  I'll even take mining company shares if you are so inclined.

Model: Sapphire Xtreme HD5830 1G 100297-2L  bought at Newegg July 2011.

3 x 5830 - $100 ea - New in box, unopened, untested.

21 17 x 5830 - $90 ea - Mined for about 4 weeks last summer, idle ever since.  I bought a straggler batch of 5850's in early August and pulled these to upgrade.  I wanted to set up more rigs to run all of these, but negotiations w/landlord over electricity provisioning failed.  All cards mined under Ubuntu 11.04 using cgminer.  They were oc'd within overdrive limits, memory clocks lowered, none over-volted.

Accessories:  I have a ton of DVI-VGA adapters if you want one per card, just ask.  I do not have all the Sapphire-style 4-pin Molex to 6-PIN PCI-E power adapters (most are in use).  If you want power adapters, I can throw in Visiontek-style adapters which have two 4-pin Molex to one 6-pin PCI-E with only three pins in the molex sides (pic in next post)

Shipping:  Prices include USPS flat-rate priority mail to continental US (about $5 ea).  If you want something else, you pay actual price minus $5 per card.  These are coming from Salem, Mass. zip code 01970.  If you're near Salem, MA (Boston) you can come to the office to pick them up and I'll take off 10% since I won't have to schlep down to the post office.  I have a Fedex Express account (not ground) and get 10-15% off the retail rate if you want that.  I've never sent anything like this internationally, so I'm going to say no international shipping for now.

That all said, I'm open to suggestions on the shipping.  I have plenty of packing material, but normally only ship documents, so I don't know the rates or weight and size limits beyond what I see online.

Packaging: I can fit the cards in flat rate boxes better without original boxes.  If you order five or more I'll have to use larger boxes, so I'll put them into their original boxes first.

Misc:

I'll prefer larger quantity orders, even if they come in late.  Post in this thread to indicate interest or with questions.

Prefer payment in BTC using Gox 24h weighted price.  You pay first, or pick and pay escrow provider from the best in the lending section.

I think my prices are in line with other posts I've seen.  Don't be offended if I ignore lowball offers.

I'm around the next few days, but frequently afk, so don't be surprised if I take several hours to reply.

You like that?   I've got more where that came from, baby.  5850's, 5970's... ooh yeah.

How much power does a 5830 pull with an average overclock at stock voltage and down clocked memory ?

Also, do these undervolt well ? I might be interested in a local pick up for all of them if I can get some accurate info on the above questions.

I can give you numbers form running my Sapph Extremes. overclocking  at 960-970, mem 270; I was pulling ~88 amps @ 1.063V.(320+ MH) Volts may go lower at those clockes. @ 920, 270mem, 1.021V I was pulling ~77 amps. (313-317MH). Sorry, do not believe I have my GPU-Z, etc screeenies from those any more. And of course that does not account for wattage drawn from other aspects of the card and fan.

This may vary greatly depending on how clean your power is and ambient temps as well.  Still IMHO, after 5770, these cards are the absolutly best MH/$ ratio there is.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Are sadpandatech's numbers what you wanted?  I'll be at the office in about an hour and can pop a few into a rig if you want kill-a-watt (draw at the wall) numbers.  Just let me know.

I'm around all week and can meet you at the office almost any time for a pick up.

Yeah I'm more interested in their electrical efficiency, MH/W.

I can see the dollar value and also realize they are nice mid level gaming cards, so my thought was I might mine them until the ASIC pyramid scheme hits and then build and sell some budget gaming PC's.

Thanks.

the only GPU thing better MH/W is 5770. These are best in that regards. Lots of old threads where we crunched a shit ton of numbers on them.

I thought 7970 was the best at approx 3 mh/w give or take.

I get 2.7 mh/w with my 5970 machines.

What do these get on average ?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=87699.0

7770 getting 224MH/s at 58 watts, and that's without a memory underclock.

Do you undervolt your 5970s?

No I don't undervolt because the ones I have don't seem to like it.(diamond brand)

Also, I guess I'm mixing two things, I get 2.7 including mbo, cpu, etc.

So this is my base set-up

MSI 890FXA-GD70
sempron 140
2gb cheap ram
1250 watt seasonic gold
solid state or notebook hard drives
windows 7 pro 64bit
catalyst 11.12 driver
sdk 2.1
cgminer
two scythe ultra kaze fans blowing air through the cards from behind
Of course, all unnecessary crap turned off in bios, hd audio, usb 3.0, etc.
Completely homemade open air case, basically motherboard trays extracted from old cases mounted on particle board.

Cards all at 800/300, stock voltage 1.05, temps around 70c give or take.

This gets me about 720 mh/s per card for about 2.1 Gh/s on average and 760 watts at the wall with a kill-a-watt

So that's about 2.76 MH/W total for each rig.

Here are some numbers for you guys:

Test setup:
  Biostar A870U3 Board
AMD Athlon II X2 250 CPU
  1 stick of Samsung 1 GB DDR3 1066 RAM
  Rosewill Bronze RBR1000-M 1000w PSU
WD Caviar SE wd2500 sata1 HD (ancient)
  Open air (no extra fans)
  Ubuntu 11.04 w/ cgminer 2.4.1
  Room temp: 82.5f (28c)

After mining for about 10 mins to warm up:

  2x Sapphire Xtreme 5830 (in x16 slots) - clocks at 900/197 (gpu/mem) voltage stock 1.163; temps 70.5c,50.5c; both mine at 290 Mh/s
  Kill-a-watt says: 113.0V, 3.23A, 355w, 366VA
  Results in about 1.63 Mh/w

  4x Sapphire Xtreme 5830 (two in x16 slots, two on x1->x16 extenders) - clocks at 900/197 (gpu/mem) voltage stock 1.163; temps 76.5c,52.5c,64.0c,54.0c; all mining at 289.0-289.4 Mh/s
  Kill-a-watt says: 111.4V, 6.54A, 722w, 729VA
  Results in about: 1.6 Mh/w

Of course you could improve upon those numbers with a cooler room and better PSU/cpu/mobo components (or vice versa).  I'm pretty sure the 197 memclock came from experimentation last summer.  I was probably still using phoenix at the time, so there may be a more optimal setting for 5830s nowadays, I just went with what I had in my old 5830 config file.  You could also push for higher gpu clocks with Trixx or a bios flash, but 900 is the stock limit.

Not really, thanks for asking though.  Smiley

I'd prefer BTC or USD, and will consider GLBSE shares.  I already have more mining hardware than I can use.

I also have 5970's and some broken cards that I plan to list once these 5830's are gone, then I'll start selling off my active 5850's.  I just don't have the time to deal with too many sales at once.

Especially at only 900MHz, those sapphire 5830s can go below 1.163V, which give you much lower temps, lower power draw, and higher MH/w.

Yeah, I only ran them for about a month last summer and was more focused on finding 5850's at the time, so I never spent the time to  optimize beyond the gpu and memclocks.

$50 each + $5 shipping each, throw away (or recycle) the boxes to make shipping cheaper.
