Totally agree on the Corsairs - I have several of the AX760's and they act more like a big battery delivering up to 63 amps on a single rail with less than 7mv of ac ripple !  Plus the modular connectors.  Wish I had the 860's so I could run 3 S5's on 2 PSU's.

Looking for an S5 guide to what all the LED's represent - I've got a new S5 that doesn't light up the red ones on the two ASIC boards and the 4 green ones on the board under the controller have the 3 inside ones lit constantly with only the outer one blinking.

Any clues ?

+1
I saw this question about the LED lights on this posting on page 5, but didn't see a response.  My S5 isn't working at the moment, but I can get to the config screen through the appropriate IP.  I wonder if someone has an idea about the meaning of the various lights?  Anyone know of a guide around here for these?

Thanks
 Huh
If you've got access to the config then we can work with that. Can you upload a screenshot of the status page please?

With one missing it might not be a huge deal.  But it makes me think your miner took a huge hit.    Breaking the heatsink is not easy.

You might want to check for other damage, see if it still works. Before turning on make sure heatsink is still secure.  You might have to deal with seller if part's are falling off.

*Also this is in another thread no need for double post.  Also this is in S5 forum and it is a S3.   I suggest sticking with your thread you made.

does anyone here know relation between bitmain-voltage and bitmain-freq?
the original is :
"bitmain-freq" : "3:350:0d82", -> what is 3? 350 is frequency, what is 0d82?
"bitmain-voltage" : "0725" -> hexadecimal? if 0725 is hex, so 1829 in decimal?

Hi,
need some advice here.

I've recently, over the weekend , got hold of an antminer s5. I'm using a thermaltake 730W psu with 2 separate railings for the 6 pin connectors. and i've made sure i connect a single blade to one  railing.

the issue is, i cant seem to get a decent hash rate. im averaging something below 50ghash . which doesnt make sense.  my other miners are on slush pools and im aware that i need to set the worker diff level in order for the pool to assign the work correctly , right ? so that works well for my s4 . but when i set the worker to 1024 , i cant a very low hash rate. i tried leaving it blank as well so that the pool can identify and assign work accordingly. that doesnt seem to help. i've also tried btcguild . that still gives the same results. i tried searching the forum for anyone with similar issues, but so far, cant find any.

any ideas, or advice ?

Hey Dogie,

Can you put on your guide hardware error tolerances. I've done some adjustments and have been seeing errors in the .0045 percent range. I know before you told me what the limit was for concern but it is buried deep in another thread. I think this tolerance would be helpful for some.

Thanks!

Could I use two PSU to feed one S5?

I have one thermaltake of 750W and a Corsair of 750W both bronce certified.

My understanding is that this would be fine so long as you use one psu per card.

That's correct, as long as each PSU is appropriately powerful enough to power one blade, you can use a pair of PSUs to power a blade each.

Hello, How much amps do each blade needs?

I have a CX750 (750w, single rail 62A @ +12V)Corsair PSU. It has two PCIe connector.
I wonder if I could run a S5 with this PSU.
tia

Yes you can, about 300W per blade.

Hello Mr Dogie, where can I check the relation btw frec and amp/w consumed?

I know I can change the frecuency of each blade but I am trying to use a 750W PSU to feed both blades.

I wonder what's the optimal configuration to be used with that PSU

I can't seem to find it there is a nice chart with S4, S5, and C1 frequency and watts used.

But no matter what 750 watts is more then any frequency you will be using on a S5.

the problem is that my 750w PSU has 3 PCIe 12v @ 20 a.

I can only connect two PCIe to the S5. I am looking for the optimal S5 UC

Its not far off linear, you can stick with that. You can assume 600W @ the wall @ stock frequency and work from there.

My miner Beeps after running 24 hours straight. I know that it means something is wrong yet I really want to disable this loud noise as it acts an alarm clock sound and wakes me up.

The settings to uncheck it in the general configurations don't seem to always hold. A week goes by and I find it checked again. when I enable Minerlink it also gets checked again. Turning minerlink on also doesn't hold.

where is the beeper on the S5. Bitmain maybe needs to look into another way to disable this beeper.

The beeper signifies no pool and / or internet connection, ie its not mining. You are correct that certain actions in the software will retick the box, and sometimes the setting won't stick at all.

I don't have a good picture of it, so you'll have to look from here. Its hiding under the BBB towards on fan side of the controller, and the opposite side to the fan cable. Its a black cylinder. If you screw one of the side panel screws into it it will silence and / or destroy the beeper.

Yikes - be nice to those little piezo buzzers Smiley  Try a piece of tape first.  Depending on construction, it will either practically silence it, make it louder (instant regret), and/or shift its pitch.

I guess if anybody should know, it's you, but I'm surprised that you can't disable it in software/firmware.

If you're very careful you can screw it in such that it only just touches the element which will stop it moving but *should* be reversible. The screws are the perfect diameter such that they thread themselves through the hold and only crack the plastic cosmetically.

Hello Dogie, I love your work with these guides...

Do you have a CLI command's guide to check status and / or change the S5's configuration?
