Bitmain stats for the S5

When better power efficiency is needed in the future due to higher network difficulties, you may want to buy some special PSUs 9V DC with more than 10A output, which will allow you to have a 0.2J/GH mining efficiency, but at lower hashing speed.

Would it be possible to do the same with the S3 models?
A problem I can think of is the buck regulator in the S3.  If I understand it right the S5 does not have this but runs the chips in series.
Any thought on running a S3 with a 9 volt PSU instead of 12?
Can it be done, what would be the effects?  I would try it out but don't have a 9 volt PSU laying around.  But I'm very tempted to order one.

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

waste of time and effort to do that.

but if you fully disassemble it and do a pencil mode you could get to about .6 volts  vs the .75 or so it is set on stock.

you may get an s-3 running around .62 watts a gh .  there are a few posts about it I never bothered since the improvements claimed were not a lot.

Why would you use 9V psu? 12V psu is more commonly available than 9V psu.

he wants to under volt and under clock the s-3 to get better then .8 watts per gh at the kwatt meter.

this can be done to the s-5 with a 9 volt psu .3 watts per gh at the kwatt meter is supposed to be possible instead of getting .52 watts at the kwatt meter using a 12 volt psu.

No one has shown it to work on the s-5 as of today (I could be wrong)

Also this won't work on an s-3 it need a mod like that of the s-1.  but you need to really do a lot of labor to do it.  plus the s-3 improves from

0.8 to 0.6  with a much more labor intensive mod then the  s-1

the s-1 went from 2.0 to 1.1  with an easy pencil mod.  a solid improvement with very little work.
