In my country people generally still don't trust Internet generally, they are afraid to buy or sell over Internet...
Of course, in such environment, bitcoin is for them fantasy land, not something real.
I hope this will change soon!

People felt the same way about using credit cards at one time. They didn't think of it as money, the same is with Bitcoin but as the time progresses they'll learn how it is so much better and how they can store and keep their money safe without relying on third parties.

I think, you are behind, about what is cool nowadays. Justin Bieber should promote Bitcoin. That would really give it a boost.

bitcoin in my country is not so well known because not many people who know and understand the workings of bitcoin
I don't think people need to know the "in's and out's" of bitcoin in order for it to be widely used and accepted as something that is positive for the world. All they need is the general benefits of bitcoin.

The OP is right though, many things have happened over the years that has caused bitcoin to get somewhat of a bad rep, as of the last ~year or so, the flow of bad rep news is somewhat slowing down

In my country internet shopping already popular, but there are still too many bad cases when buy over internet.
They afraid to use bitcoin since they can't get their bitcoin back Sad

And top of that, people in my country use bitcoin as investment not as currency Sad

due to the constant fluctuations of the value of BTC, it is natural that people viewing the possibility of making investments.
