I'm trying to get reaper up and running on 2 rigs, both of which use windows 7 64 bit.

The 5870 rig has catalyst 11.12 drivers.  I get a fast list of crap in a command window before it closes, and at the bottom it says "Error:  Error building Open CL program."

The 3X6970 rig also has catalyst 11.12 drivers.  This one says "Compiling kernal...this could take up to 2 minutes" and then crashes instantly with a "reaper.exe has stopped working."

Is this a drivers issue or am I potentially missing something else?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I just had spoken to a guy in IRC of ozco pool, they say they are having nothing but problems with reaper and also, mine don't crash but it gets an error 6 error in which the admins over at ozco in irc chat said this error 6 happens with any pool. So my guess this application is badly broken.

My errors occur whether it's a pool or solo.

I am guessing you have opencl installed? As you looks to been here for quite a long time. Which openCL do you have installed?

1.0 on the 5870.

1.1 on the 3x6970.  Could that be why the 6970 rig at least seemed like it wanted to start compiling the kernal?

It could be it doesn't know what to do with 1.0 & 1.1.

I have two 5850's here, with 11.12 CCC and 2.5 SDK, everything compiled just great but I got the error 6 which is host connection problem.

Might want to try sdk 2.5 if you think it is worth it.

Have you tried localhost; 9332; [user]; [pass] to solo?

Nope, just configured litecoin.conf file for ozco pool with my account info, removed the bitcoin and solidcoin from the reaper config, tried to enter the pool, got that error, so I went into the IRC chat room of https://lc.ozco.in/ , the admins there stated the connection host problem with reaper, are with all the pools. One admin had the same crash problems. The other stated the connection host problem.

So, if you do try with SDK 2.5, let me know if you can connect to a pool to confirm my problem with the others problem that it is a known problem with reaper. Smiley

I have no idea why so many people are having problems. I have 5 different machines all running reaper fine. Specs as follows:

  • 1 6850
  • 3 5970(1 mining ltc, 2 mining btc)
  • 1 5870m
  • 1 5870
  • 2 5870, 1 6850

My recommendation to get a copy of BAMT and compile reaper on that (unless you have 7xxx cards, then use a clean install of windows).

Congrats, wish I had the same luck.

I got mine figured out yesterday. I don't actually mine with it, but I also used the litecoin.conf file to set it up. What I had was:

host http://litecoinpool.org
port 9332
user user
pass pass

and I was getting error number 6.

I changed the host to "litecoinpool.org" and it connects right away.

To people who are getting crashes right after the Kernel is compiled, try changing your worksize in the litecoin.conf file from 256 to 128. The kernel will recompile and it should work.
