Hi!

I'm intrigued with the ability to "follow coins" in Bitcoin / Litecoin world...

 How that is made?!

I mean, some thief stole XXXX.XX from Bitcoinica... Now, the community can see where the coins are going but... Where can I see that?

If I send 1 Bitcoin to the address Y, that does not belongs to me, and the new owner send it (1) to Z... After to W... Can I follow that 1 coin forever?

Cheers!
Thiago

You can see the addresses that the coin or fractions of it go to, but you need 'off the chain' info in addition in order for it to mean anything. blockchain.info and blockexplorer.com are two places to look. To be clear, they don't have any special privilege they simple help you view the info that anyone can download using the standard Bitcoin client.

edit: I just saw you have 1500 posts and might know this and be asking something else.

Please, fell free to move this thread out of the main section... Or, where can I move it?

This is in the correct section. FreeMoney just thought you where unfamiliar with how Bitcoin works, but noticed your high post count thus resulting in the assumption that you understand at least the basics of how to follow coins around the network.

I, as well as FreeMoney, am assuming that you're looking at "tagging" a coin to follow around the network?

BlockChain.info has a Dendogram tree view.

Here's the May Bitcionica hack money:

Now what's likely coming are scrapers that take known matches between identity and bitcoin address and provide links between users.  Like this:
