I won't be paying 600 for a FPGA only getting 6gh and won't be buying a pre order until I see results in field when it has asics involved.
$USD 600 worth of FPGA will only get you 800 MH/s

I think anyone who has the slightest understanding of Math knows that mining is a pretty stupid thing to do if you're in it to make money, I'm working on real products to sell for Bitcoin instead Cheesy

Don't mine Bitcoin, make products and get money off the suckers miners who will ruin their computers doing the mining for you.

Hmmm. I'm new to this but it looks to me not worth it unless you got in early enough to make some profit and re-invest in serious hardware already.  Angry Angry

And you are right. Mining is not a get rich quick scheme. Same for bitcoin, it's not a get rich quick scheme. If someone came here expecting to become rich with his computer, well, he is totally wrong  Smiley

Without making any investments and using my computers I already own, I can get 0.1 BTC in ~3 days. Its not that optimal, you can't really make money without large upfront costs.

You should be able to make just over 0.5BTC per day per GH/s at the current difficulty. I get 800MH/s and make ~0.45BTC/24hours at BTCGuild. Hashrate is approximate.
I must be doing it wrong because my 3.1Gh/s gets me about .5BTC/day +/-
You might want to double check those numbers Wink

For some reason, constitution decided to copy my post and post it as his own half a year later and bump a dead thread. Those interested in an update, this is my new statement:

You should be able to make just over 0.155BTC per day per GH/s at the current difficulty.
see E11 on this doc for an exact number: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlfvS-7vLyHjdGIyUjdDSFJsT2s5TWdIX3hNcWF5ckE#gid=0
I get 800-900MH/s and make probably ~0.12-0.13BTC/24hours on P2Pool. Hashrate is approximate and I have a 350MH/s decrease every time I game for the duration.
The last time I did actual calculations to check my income was last month. I took an average of my payouts for half a month from the middle of Dec. to the beginning of Jan. to check my payment average over 18 days. It was 0.138BTC/day at whatever the difficulty was at that point and my hashrate was closer to 900 at that time.

On a side note, for some reason, the last 4 payments I got through p2pool today were approx. 1.6x my normal payments and neither my hashrate nor the network's hashrate has changed significantly nor has the difficulty dropped.

ohh just noticed this now. When did I become a "full member" Smiley

yeah,  I get about 1.2-1.3 on 8ghash...  assuming $17 price and drop to 3m difficulty in a day, it'll be like $600 a month after electricity but before depreciation, labor, etc.

Just got back into mining after being out of it for about six months. Currently mining with poclbm on a Mac Pro running dual Radeon 5870s, which seems to be doing around 600 MH/s total. At BTC Guild, that apparently works out to about BTC0.10 a day. Presumably with a little tuning, and maybe some overclocking, I could get a bit higher. I have no idea yet if it's paying for the electricity it's using....

Thats about a 200 watt each card. 200 watts an hour and check your bill.

It's like 1.64 a day here in good olde Toronto. So 1.70 -1.64 = Zipcoins

Just note that mining kills the hardware. I've had to RMA a few of my old cards, and some cards I still have artefacts at stock clocks.

Assuming no notable graphics cards, about ฿0.02 per month using CPU. On a dual 5850 system, overclocked to the max, about ฿0.10 per day or ฿3.11 per month.
