I don't think it's actually a scam if the OP clearly states that it's a ponzi, people know the game and its up to them if they wanna lose their coins or not. Sooner or later everyone loses apart from the man behind the ponzi.

People are also inherently greedy and incredibly stupid, which is why these schemes work even today. I say let them burn if they choose to be burnt.
