Original thread is here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92175.msg1015610#msg1015610

I had an idea for a BTC raffle.

100 entries will be available
You can purchase as many entries as you'd like
Each entry is 1BTC
1st place winner will receive 50BTC
2nd place winner will receive 30BTC
3rd place winner will receive 10BTC
5BTC will be donated to bitcointalk.org
The remaining 5BTC will go to me for organizing and maintaining the entries
PM me for entry

The winner will be picked at midnight EST July 31/August 1 using random.org

Entry #'s and names will be visible in the next post (please look at the list before you choose a number)

Good luck to everyone who enters!!

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

If there are less than 100 entries, will you still keep the prizes?

If there's less than 100 entries by the raffle date then I will issue refunds to all entrants.
I'm quite surprised that people aren't jumping all over this, 1BTC could win you 50BTC!!

You may have more luck with cheaper tickets.

The sweet spot seems to be 0.25 and lower, my 0.3 raffle is selling much slower than the last 2, despite a much better prize.

Yeah,I kinda see Luceo's point.Lower priced tickets will draw more people in.I once charged 0.05BTC for lottery tickets in my old lottery,Dream Islands lottery (now new and improved and known as Dream islands games, read my sig for more info)Bit Lotto is an example of a successful game where the tickets are priced at 0.25 BTC which shows that 0.25BTC or less is the sweet spot.Tip-working on your ad campaign can really do wonders.
