Hey my wallet was taking too long to sync so I uninstalled, deleted folder w/ all the data, reinstalled, opened bitcoin core to create the folder again and then downloaded bootstrap.dat. I closed the program and put this file in AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
when I open it it still tries to sync and it's going to take a long time. What am I doing wrong?

The process will take "long" regardless. The program validates the whole blockchain. This depends on your PC specs.

As Newar said, it will take a long time, but if you try the 0.10.0rc3 version it should be faster.

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything 'wrong' btw. :-)
