Bitcoin is too volatile for people & businesses to budget their expenses.

Though I have to say POW is looking weak these days. LiteCoin especially can't sustain 30% inflation in a bear market.

(Ripple is no good as it's centralised with over 60% of supply controlled by the founders imo.)

I'm not suggesting they use the RIPPLE coin.

They should release a Greek Drachma on the RIPPLE system, it would solve all their problems immediately.
They could issue a currency, bonds and futures and collect the proceeds under their own umbrella, without any intervention by the global banking cartel whatsoever. Like Iceland did it, but in a much smarter way.

It would be fully transparent to the people of Greece, no more room for corruption and extortion.
The left opposition could start it immediately, before the €uro collapses on them.
It's easy, shouldn't take more than a couple of days to set it up.
I guess SnapSwap would be more than grateful to serve them.
