I suggest using one of following for escrow:
PsychoticBoy
Tomatocage
DannyHamilton
SebastianJu
OgNasty
Devthedev

All listed here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

I am sure there is a few more good choices, this is just my default list.

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

Just to add, you can also add escrow.ms and monbux on the list.

Cool! I just came to this sub to ask the same thing as OP. Never needed escrow before but I am setting up an Etsy shop and Etsy allows users to transact in Bitcoin. The vendor mentions that he accepts on the product info, and the buyer needs to contact vendor to set it up. This require a trusted escrow provider who is willing to hold funds for as long as shipping takes.
Is escrow more expensive the longer the deal takes to clear, or is it a flat percentage rate?

It's flat.
But always clear the terms and conditions with the escrow you choose prior to doing the deal.

I suggest using one of following for escrow:
- snip -
DannyHamilton
- snip -

As of today, until further notice, I no longer have the time available to give escrow the attention necessary to provide a quality service.  Therefore, I am suspending all escrow activities.  I thank you for your trust, and belief in me, but I will be unable to assist with this transaction.
