And something to read more about:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2smm94/silk_road_case_just_another_fakery/
Also the post was deleted after few minutes:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2sqacm/this_reddit_sub_is_censoring_posts/
Guys, why don't you just stop following this case fakery?
 Don't you get it?!!
The whole case was created by government (see the "inside" SK gov agent) just to discredit the bitcoin in eyes of MSM and rest of the people that still don't understand bitcoin.
The Silk Road, Pirate Dread, Karpless etc from the beginning was just some patsies to catch those who buy drogs on internet and to discredit all the bitcoin supporters.
Like Andreas said: "Banks warn of dangers of bitcoin because people already know of the dangers of banks and are looking for choices."
"Most people are yet to understand how disruptive the Bitcoin technology really is." - I think the gov already understand it and is doing everything possible to discredit it, because it can't be shut it down, just slowing down the adoption...
Think again and don't let you fooled by all the news. All are just to distract you from other facts that are more important but they don't want you to know.
 Questions to ask:
 - How the "undercover" agent was hired for SK for an admin job. We don't have this information, we know only that he was chatting with DPR. To be admin for a web like this is not easy to be accepted. Or maybe that "admin" is the creator of the SK.
 - If that agent has access to see the location of DPR just chatting, why they didn't localize also all the clients that used SK to sell/buy drogs. So all those users are not prosecuted... So this is the War on drogs guys, a fakery.
 - Do you really think that DPR will use a normal unprotected WiFi connection without any VPN protection when he was chatting or connecting to SK?
 - Who benefits from this?

For all I can think of, there are people who wants bitcoin to fail at all cost. People who have everything to lose if bitcoin were to be a success. Period.

Yes this is the point, but like Andreas said:
"Bitcoin will survive the banking regulators and oppressive governments. The converse however is unlikely."
"Most people are yet to understand how disruptive the Bitcoin technology really is." - at this point I think the govs already understand it and will do everything possible to not let bitcoin to be understand it by masses.
"Bitcoin is global, decentralized and unstoppable. Let govt try, it will be hilarious to watch." - like this case is hilarious...

but they can keep it down for the next 20 years so better explain the benefits of BTC instead of other "bad" things.

Or the gov secretly loves bitcoin. Its centralized, not anonymous, and will allow them to easily track all of your money.

Sounds like a gov wet dream to me.

To my mind, it is a virus, the only natural defence against which is a vibrant, rudely healthy economy, with a large middle class, and a vanishingly small amount of true poor. Maybe 10% of the countries in the world have managed to achieve something like this 10% of the time. In many cases it has appeared to be achieved but been proven a fragile illusion. In the current global financial climate, no country has natural immunity. Truly it is unstoppable, it is inevitable. The only question is, how long the patients fight it, and whether they will then surrender and enter symbiosis sooner rather than later. In that regard it's a virus that's more like gut bacteria, in the end it strengthens the host. However in the process of becoming infected, the patients might try ridiculous extreme measures, like blood letting, burning their hair, drinking mercury, one hundred kinds of quackery that may either bring their demise, hasten colonisation of the virus, or just bring pain and suffering unnecessarily.

Like the flu, it will have high mutagenic potential, this years flu vaccine will be ineffective against next years strain, bitcoin is in the wild, the wilderness tests it, shapes it, makes it stronger. Bitcoin is as great an innovation as the printing press. Governments and tyrants have sought to control printing and mass dissemination of information, this has proved impossible, we came out of the dark ages, into the age of enlightenment. We are the vanguard of a new age upon this earth, the tide of history rises behind us.

another post of people crying over the price and trying to think of reasons why the price is dropping..

ok guys listen close..

13million coins... all locked away nice and safe in lots of peoples pockets.

500k coins moving around on multiple exchanges..

broken down to less than 50k coin movements a day per main exchange..

now then...

its easy to manipulate the price of exchanges that hold these small amounts. and make all the cry baby numbskulls worry about bitcoin, by using less than 1000 coins on a single orderline. in many cases 200 coins can cause movements that will get people emotional..

now

why should 200-1000 coins get people emotional and affect the 13million hoarded elsewhere..
well the reason is that numbskulls are blind to the whole ecosystem and only see the crappy centralised exchanges as the value maker..

once you stop using these crappy exchanges moving such small amounts as your value indicators, you will get less emotional about it.

this time last year people woke up and stopped caring about mtgox once it went below the $450 mark that others viewed as fair. and even when mtgox sunk down to $100 no one cared.

so treat these crappy exchanges the same. lets all agree now that we value bitcoin at $450, the same as last year and ignore the exchange prices.. leave the day trading bots to play with small amounts and we just trade at proper fair values.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

I hope he's freed and I hope silk road flourishes.  All markets should be free in my opinion.  I don't use drugs but I don't think I have the right to pass judgement on those who do.  I think we steal something away from the potential of our civilization when we oppress others based on how we think life should be lived.

That's the stupidest theory I've heard in a while.

If anyone is keen on telling the whole world that they are drug-lord wannabe bitch who wants to play at being a criminal, trying to arrange a murder by hire while sipping soy latte in starbucks like some two bit college pussy, then I highly recommend they use the OP title as a rallying cry.

May I also remind how easily he got caught from 'arranging' a murder with an undercover agent - standard operation that case. How much of a pussy can you be?

I would somewhat doubt that the defense has a very good chance of convincing the jury that ross is not DPR. Their only real chance of winning the case is for him to get evidence against him thrown out

That ship might have sailed. Because he's claiming not to be DPR, he can't have any interest in how evidence was obtained, because he's saying it's nothing to do with him, so they get to present stuff "as is".

Absolutely wrong in every way. What you're advocating isn't freedom, it's suppression. If you've ever taken drugs(Highly addictive ones i.e crystal meth etc) before or know someone who has, then you'd know that those things don't give people freedom, it takes it away.

You, grendel25, is the perfect example of why we need centralization in matters like this. What Ross did was wrong and also right in some respects. He brought the drug exchange to the internet in a simple way, which probably helped curb the violence usually seen in drug trades on the streets. But, he also made drugs more easily accessible to people, especially minors.

It's in my honest opinion, that I believe online drug markets should be allowed, with the exception that the exchange of child pornography be completely and wholly banned and that anyone buying drugs be over the age of 21, and the markets should be overseen and monitored by the "feds". The site administrators and staff(as well as the vendors) should be on the lookout for minors trying to get drugs and report them, and definitely on the lookout for the exchange of child pornography. Such exchanges might help stop the violence seen with drug trades IRL, along with making things like this a lot safer and more democratic.

**Of course if the site administrators don't listen and abide by those rules, they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law**
