Why will Bitcoin stand the test of time? Why will it replace the wonderful pieces of polymer and cotton that we know and love?

I see this as a threat to consumerist society. There is no way easy credit could be lent if Bitcoin is really this rigid in its supply and becomes the de facto global currency.

How will the masses purchase massive amounts of clothes, toys, foodstuffs and cars?

A question is much like a troll, if you think about it.

They give bitcoins to shop. Shop gives massive amount of clothes, toys, foodstuffs and cars to customer. Purchase successful.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Except for banks.

Which is a good thing for us all, as well.
