Hi

To help me learn and understand Bitcoin. I want to buy a bitcoin with paypal. How can I do this.

How do I learn the going rate of a bitcoin....

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

For a paypal exchange you're better of trying to find a private trade on the OTC channel indeed.

If you leave in the US and use dwolla, you can directly buy of off MtGox.
