Using an own VPS as an anonymous VPN ist likely a bad idea:

• You get a dedicated&static IP which makes you unique throughout all your internet sessions no matter how often you delete your cookies. If you use an anonymous VPN, you get a shared IPs.

I used VyperVPN! A year before they used to provide a limited amount for free every month, i believe! Just had to register for the free service and no CC was required for free service. As i was not a heavy VPN user it was enough for me to last a month. The service was good and was able to join all the servers that were available throughout the world! User friendly and got a good UI too.
But unfortunately, they don't offer a free service anymore, lately when i checked out it was offering a free service but you need to pay a little for that. Maybe there are other free service that are available in the internet to try out.
