Theres ways around it but the volume I do it really tiny compared to others.

You know Viperschizzle from PL? He has gotten like 10 laptops, 2 cars, college tuition from RL trading yet CCP hasn't done anything

Any resources or guides around you would recommend for avoiding it? I am rather curious.

Not really, since my volume is so tiny. Once your volume gets large theres ways around it. Like boarding/unboarding ships

Get your PLEX to help support Vile Rat! Sad

Don't use VR's name for your RMT scheme, it's completely improper.

I was very much into EVE Online about 7 years ago, so I'm curious. Tech level II was the best thing you could get.  Is Tech II obsolete now?  What's a PLEX?

Well yeah T2 items are still the best bang for the buck. Though factional and officer modules are better still.

PLEX is an ingame item that can be sold for isk (about 580mil) or use it to add 30 days game time to your account. Also 2 of them can be used to place a character transfer instead of paying RL money.

So if you can earn a lot of isk ingame, you can be self sustaining.

I'm interested, but my account has been inactive for some time.

Do you know if/how you can use a PLEX code to reactivate an old account?

Yes you can. You can log into the Eve account management page and select "Hours for PLEX"

That will give you 4 hours in which you must use a PLEX to Add game time. Failure to do so will remove this option.

Another alternative would be if you have the ISK already in your wallet, you can buy a GTC through the timecode bazaar and accept it through the account manager.

Can you earn money in eve?  I currently play online poker and don't really enjoy it.  I'm not expecting to make similar amount in eve, but I'm interested in the idea of making any money at all through an mmorpg, since I've never played one, ever.  No warcraft, no multi player halo or cod, nothing.  But I'd like to have a separate game with fun graphics to play, and eve looks interesting, and if there's an economy in it that I could work in too, then i might sign up.

Its difficult but there's alternative ways to earn RL money. Theres many stories (especially about the Russians) spending ridiculous amount of money to maintain status in eve.

For example, one russian billionaire gave another alliance leader a brand new Benz in exchange to stop a war.

Recently, a Russian Director was being paid thousands of Euros a day to play Eve full time - to lead his alliance's fleets. Etc.

Eve is the only mmorpg that merges into real world meta gaming.

Back when I played EVE, I had a great time.  In the end, though, I decided that it was only for people who didn't have enough stress in real life.  It is much more involved than other MMOs I've played.
