In this scenario, what works for merchants doesn't work for customers. Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and the like have trained us to expect that if anything goes sideways, we can request a chargeback. For me as a consumer, it's hard to pass up that kind of extra peace of mind. So even if merchants roll out Bitcoin as a payment method, as long as there are alternatives, I'll stick to the options that don't force me to just trust the seller's honesty.
What's the point, then, for a merchant to go through the trouble of setting up Bitcoin payments if buyers don't even want them?
