How about having the forum system shrink pictures to thumbnail size when they appear within quotes?  That way, each image appears in full size once in the original post, then in miniature in each post that quotes the original. That would eliminate walls of giant repeated images.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

There is already option for this. You can shrink every photo in quotes with no problem.

Good idea, with a "click to enlarge" feature if you want to revert them.
Some threads are crazy, whole pages with maybe two lines of new text (I'm looking at you, BFL/Glen G) Smiley

I like the idea , we need a simple button which reduce the image of 20-30%.

I think OP was talking about shrinking the pics automatically. Yup people can use [img width=48 height=48], but some won't.

I agree with it, it should be skrinked automatically compared to having to add a command to do it.

I agree. If you are on mobile, pictures take a lot of the thread space, making them hard to read. Maybe thumbnail size, then you double click on them to make them full size. There could also be a setting that would make them full size all the time, just in case some people like full size pictures.

Ideally I would like to see thumbnail images, where the image will show up as a thumbnail, say 200x200, but when you click on the image it will expand it to the size appropriate for your browser/window settings, and when you click on the header (which would be a black bar at the top 5-10% of the thumbnail image that details the original image dimensions/size) it will expand it to full size regardless of tables.

This reduces a lot of the "ugh what size should I make my image, don't want to break tables but some people may want to see details you can't see at lower resolution". Just post it as a [timg] instead and let the user decide what they want to see.

I think OP was talking about shrinking the pics automatically. Yup people can use [img width=48 height=48], but some won't.

Most people won't use it, some are lazy and some don't know it. I think it is better to display all BBcodes and their details when they click 'help' or something other in a popup window or similar thing to what Badbear suggested for the image.

That would do it! I hope it will be implemented.

This reduces a lot of the "ugh what size should I make my image, don't want to break tables but some people may want to see details you can't see at lower resolution". Just post it as a [timg] instead and let the user decide what they want to see.

I thought '[timg]' was some sort of BBcode like '[iurl]'!!! Cheesy

Code:

You can already do it manually.

I'm asking for only the first appearance of an image to be full size. After that, shrink it.
It has to be automatic. People won't set the size manually, and if they do, they'll probably get the aspect ratio wrong.

You can already do it manually.

But people are not doing it manually. That's the real problem.

Yes , I think it would be nice to have a "reduce button" near the  insert image button. Maybe the various devs will add it in the new forum software.

No, no. People will also forget to push the “reduce” thing. This should be done automatically.

Oh in this case I think this "function" will never be added  Undecided ( but let we wait the new forum software , maybe ....).

Gif thumbnails would improve loading time a lot and would also make the website more useful for mobile users and people with a slow connection.

It's annoying how gifs auto play. Even though I have a relatively fast connection large quotes that contain images, and especially large gifs cause page loading to be problematic.

It should be done automatically with the option of keeping the picture at its original size.
