Hey, one doesn't have to be a newbie to be an average joe, I am one too but earning btc is as difficult as earning dollars for average joe aka unskilled workers.
This. Without certain skills you can't earn much. I guess physical labor is out of the question as majority of jobs are remote and done via online contacts. If you can't code, write, know how to sell something you are pretty much limited to faucets and signature campaigns on bitcointalk.
I get your point, but I feel there must be an opportunity created for such class in order to attract them towards BTC, educate them about it and side-by-side, showing them how to earn it... Back to physical labor, there are some companies who are paying in BTC if that "Average Joe" is an employee somewhere but ain't familiar with BTC... This way they can earn BTC too...
