you'll be rich

don't let money change you

He's already rich if he can afford buying 100BTC. At least in my view. I'd be happy to have 10.

100 BTC is around 25k dollar right now...
Still a lot especially if you follow the "invest only what you can afford to lose" rule.

Yup, 100 btc is way out of my league.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Its easy to lose 200$ now but hard to lose 10000$ in the long run. If you dont own 1 BTC by 2015 you are doing it wrong.

100 bitcoins might be good to hold, but apparently, the crypo-market is a rapid-changing environment. One moment you're up, one moment you're down. It depends on the different circumstances that no single entity can hold on his hands. We can safely say that that 100 bitcoins may take you to the millionaire club, but we can also say that it will cost you nothing by the year 2020, as to what Satoshi said.

Well in any case, just don't go all-in. There are lots of investment opportunities out there that may take you to your millions in the year 2020.

But definitely it's also hard to lose money in the end. Holding a couple of btc at hand may save you in the coming years, but what if you are holding too much but by the year 2020 came, bitcoin has no value at all? Risks, risks everywhere. 1-10 btc is safe to hold. Whatever happens, there will be no regrets in the end.

its all relative ,people who bought for pennies or single digits  can afford to hold thousands of btc and "see what happens "

people like the venture capitalists that are winning the silk rd coin auctions are likely to be able to hold through any volatility as well and come out smiling on the other end because theyre already high net worth individuals etc

some kid still at school with biulls to pay or  whatever will have to fold long before the people who are more financially comfortable or thpose who  made a fortune already in btc and are  already playing with "house" money

Increasing your stack is a good idea now. The price seems to be reasonably low, so you are not risking much. And in the end of the day, having 103 instead of 100 BTC will make achieving your goal a tad easier.

Well if I had a lot of spare FIAT to invest right now, I may be more tempted to wait until a trend-reversal or breakout is confirmed. If this doesn't happen, I'd still have some coins to buy at ridiculously low prices - if that ever happens! Smiley

Just keep buying a little each month to add to your stash (cold storage).

We are at the end of a brutal bear market.

The future is uncertain but bitcoin is a great assymetric position to hold for the next five years. Despite everything you still got in early and if bitcoin takes off then the difficulty will be not selling if the price shoots up again.

There is quite a good chance that your mission ends successfully, I believe. If not, even reaching half of your goal will still make you happy. And that is more probable with two more halvings ahead within that time.

Obviously there's nothing to lose. With the euro situation which is already getting bad as days go by, switching to bitcoin means at least there is still some hope left. I would rather diversify investment portfolio to different areas rather than continue to hold on to fiat.

Just for the sake of being precise, there is some risk involved in Bitcoin, too. In a not improbable scenario, when Bitcoin is substituted with Bitcoin 2.0 (or any new altcoin that rises to dominance) someone holding and forgetting about bitcoins, may lose it all.

I sense you can be a milionaire before that, if bitcoin has its major adoption.

And when I say adoption I mean people get the concept of using a dual credit system on what they already currently use today.

If altcoin replaces bitcoin, it is then a fact that another altcoin will replace that altcoin, if u get me.
Prooving that from above would mean that there would be no more long term investments in the coin, and therefore no further development.
So your theory falls here, because if there is to be a bitcoin 2.0, it will still be bitcoin, just upgraded to whatever it is demanded of it, with every balance restored from original bitcoin.

For the sake of bitcoin itself, i think it would be the best to remove entire altcoin section from this forum, and let altcoins proove they are worth something from zero, just like bitcoin had to do,
and not spam bitcoin users with their "inovations"

cheers

...

My theory does not fall here. The point I made was the following: Bitcoin has all the possibilities to be successful long-term investment. But it is not risk-free, with the risk being that Bitcoin may fall at massive adoption, e.g., by being replaced by some other coin in not too distant future. One should be aware of that.
