I'm looking for some power consumption numbers so I can correctly choose the power supply to run my rigs with.

I'd like some accurate information on the following:

5870 power consumption while mining @ 900/300 1.1v

5850 power consumption while mining @ 900/300 1.1v

5830 power consumption while mining @ 900/300 1.1v

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

A few problems. Number one, those online calculators don't allow for 5 cards. Number two, I don't know how much the cards are actually pulling when I look at the calculator. I can factor in my cpu and ram and other parts, but I want to know how many watts each card pulls from the power supply so that I can be the one who does the math and figures out which power supplies I will use. For instance, I want to run my power supplies at less than 80% load because it's continuous. If that calculator says a 650 watt is fine, I don't know how many watts the system actually draws, so it may be running at 90% of the power supply capacity.

5830 287mh/s @ 900/300 1.1v uses 142 watts.

So with some reviews that I've read which go over power consumption, along with the information here, I've basically found that the 5830 uses ~ 125 watts, 5850 uses ~ 150 watts and the 5870 uses ~ 200 watts.

a 5970 @ 715 0.95v and 765 1v pulls 213 watts on an 80plus gold PSU and does 683 mhash/sec and 3.2 mhash/joule

The computer idles at 170W without the 5970 installed (it has 4 other vid cards but they were idling too).
With the 5970 installed but still idling, computer takes 233W (5970 takes 63W at idle)
With the 5970 installed and under load, computer takes 363W (5970 takes 213W under load)

I also have reference 5870 in the same system and reference 5850 in a different system, but will take time to get numbers figured out since it requires miner downtime.

Just so you know, setting at 0.96v isn't actually 0.96v. Volterra programmable voltage regulator operates in steps below the max voltage step. According to my XFX reference 5850 BIOS, the steps are 0.95, 1v, 1.0375, and 1.0875. Your 5850 is actually operating at 1v, not 0.96v.

LOLOL, I guess my estimations and math were a bit off when it comes to an 85*F room and dual psu's. My 600watt psu bit the dust today. I'm filling that space with a nice 1kw gold rated unit though. Smiley
