“While I’m sitting there waiting for him to introduce me, he said to his congregation, ‘You know, if every one of you stopped and frisked your kid before they went out at night, the mayor wouldn’t have to do it,’” Bloomberg said. “And so I knew I was going to be okay with that audience.”

Well, I think this problem have some deeper roots then simply being a meber of certain minorities. Too many criminals in a society indicates fundamental problems with the whole society.

Perhaps forcibly recruiting such blokes into the President's own Forlorn Hope Rifles division and deploy them against the ISIS or Boko Haram would solve this issue.

Segregation is still the big issue, these kind of 'rules' only drive the segregation and make things worse, it is a negative spiral and adding to the negativity only makes it spiral down harder.

It reminds me of the problem with Gypsies in Europe. They are known to be lazy and steal stuff, so nobody wants to hire them, which forces them to turn to crime and steal even more. Even those, who are honest are forced into the life of crime by everyone around them, and when they actually do, people just nod their heads saying "I knew it, they were pretending, but true nature always wins, all of them are thieves, period".

That's true. This is why all states should liberalize firearm access for "trustworthy" citizens and restrict for "dangerous" groups.

Well, homicide rate in USA still relatively lower than in many other countryes. For example, in Russia it's 3 times higher than in America. In Russia you can't own a gun, its forbidden. Also in texas there is a lowest homicide rate from all the states. And you can own and carry a gun in texas. So guns is not a problem. Society is a problem.

Well, homicide rate in USA still relatively lower than in many other countryes. For example, in Russia it's 3 times higher than in America. In Russia you can't own a gun, its forbidden. Also in texas there is a lowest homicide rate from all the states. And you can own and carry a gun in texas. So guns is not a problem. Society is a problem.

.410 shotgun. It's quite real and quite deadly. Still it's a good gun for learning. It is a single shot long gun. I did not get a repeating rifle until I was 12-13. And was not allowed to own my own handgun until I was 16. However I started shooting them at about 8. Again, that was not weird where i grew up. I really did not know any kids without guns.   
The most important thing I learned was how to be safe with firearms. That is emphasized over and over again in youth shooting. I now shoot about 200 rounds a week; pistol and precision rifle mostly. It's what I do to relax.

Read the article more critically. Bloomberg isn't advocating some kind of law banning black 15-25yr olds from buying guns. They obviously already have them, and as people here have said a law being passed won't change that anyway. He's saying that cities need to work to get guns off the street and keep that demographic safe.

The problem with this whole idea is that, if we take guns away from black males, we are really harming ourselves. What we are really doing, is simply relieving the country of guns altogether, one group of people at a time.

The better alternative would be to supply black males with guns, and to require everyone else to protect themselves with guns. This would cause the bad blacks (and whites) to either become good, or become dead, from the rest of the populace protecting themselves.

It would also mean that people would be more apt to take responsibility for their lives, more readily protecting themselves from bad cops and bad government officials.
