The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

[...] due to a violation on the Google Play content policy [...]

Well, that's bad news. But what violation exactly we're talking about? Or is it not clear at this point?

I hope users' Bitcoins are not lost because of this.

As long as the app is already installed, you should be fine.  Or, whenever you're able to reinstall it you can restore your backup.  Personally, I don't trust any single wallet.  I generate a private key using MultiBit, save it on a flash drive or paper, and import it into Mycelium.  That way I have access to the same wallet on my PC and my phone.  You just need to make extra sure that your PC is clean.

You can also install from an old installer. It will need to disable the feature which allows installation only through the Play Market.

for those who keep asking questions about the Bitcoin in the app. As long as you still have the app you can send them elsewhere and removing the app from the store does not affect your balance since it is NOT a web wallet hosted by a third entity. Your bitcoin are really really inside your phone "Well not exactly but for the layman, yes.". You can also directly copy and private keys if you don't like to hassle with Mycelium backup method.

I honestly am okay with this and prefer it actually. I like my secure androids with no access to the store. I use F-Droid on them.

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

They are not lost, since the private keys are on the phone.

The violation is suspected to be in the LocalTrader function where Mycelium receives 0.2% from both trading parties. Another possibility is the recent change to allow the user to choose the miners' fees. Maybe Google misunderstands that as "fees to be paid to Mycelium". Google expects a 30% share of all transactions and those transactions need to be done via the Play Store system.

I think we have to make our own app store like Google Store.

I think we have to make our own app store like Google Store.

For apps that do well but get rejected/taken down from official Play Store, there's an alternative:
F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/

For example there's an app called AdAway that lets rooted android users remove all kind of ads by updating the HOSTS file.
Google removed all such ad-nemesis apps fro official Play Store more than a year ago, but they continue to grow and are available through F-Droid.

The installed apps still work, we still provide the app on our website, and even if we were completely unavailable you could restore your backup in Trezor or wallet32 etc

It's just dann annoying that Google removed the app without prior notice and without telling us why exactly. We will happily remove the donate option and / or local trader fee if necessary, we just need to know what's the problem.
Maybe it was caused by mentioning "adjust fee from send dialog" in the change list, and they now think we collect a fee for usage...

I'm sure this will be sorted out soon. There's really nothing hanky panky about the app in the first place. With the option to select transaction fee, I find that it gives more control over how the way you handle transaction when you can adjust it higher or lower to speed up the confirmation. That could be misunderstood in a way by google.

Didn't really understand anything from that reason of suspension  to be honest .
Beside how bad it is if they removed from Google Play , they can simply make it available on their website for Android version and for iOS it's available on iTunes without issues .

The app already is and has always been available on our homepage.
But lets face it: many new users will probably rather install something else from playstore than go to website and download the apk. And its the same problem for updates, via google play, we can just upload new versions and users installs either auto-update or notify them, based on their settings. Forcing users to download a new version from the website and manually installing it to update is just annoying.
So we hope google answers soon and resolves this issue.

It is really not much of a big deal when google decide to remove apps. The fact that android allows user to install third party apps already allows android users to install the myceilum again without hassle and you can build it yourself too.

The app has always been a free version. I hope they don't confused with the ability to set the fee setting as a means of paying to mycelium.
