how much % off did you get? I was disapointed because the site's homepage says 30% and then when you starts the process it's actually 8% so i gave up as i don't really trust businesses that use false advertisement.

I've tried to use it -several- times for things less than 5$ at only 7% and I keep getting someone with 0 feedback trying to scam me. Yeah, it's awesome... Have yet to complete a actual transaction.

I guess I don't really understand how it works...  Does the buyer learn your username and address?

I like to purchase used items off of Amazon to save $, but you cannot purchase used items through purse.io as far as I know.  I've also noticed that the item prices are higher than the typical prime member pricing I see.  So each time I've tried to use it, I found that I could get a cheaper deal in Bitcoin by either 1) buying the item used with a gyft.com gift card, or 2) buying the item with a gyft.com gift card using my prime account.

how much % off did you get?
From what I understand you get to set the rate (% discount) that you want, but if you set it for example at 30%, hardly anyone would think about purchasing our items for you.

I guess I don't really understand how it works...  Does the buyer learn your username and address?
You make a wishlist, and the buyer buys the wishlist. Your address is fully hidden to them, as well as the tracking number, phone numbers, etc.

You can get 15-20% off without much delay (if any) pretty consistently. Transactions stay private so far as significant info is concerned (they have a nice chart showing which parties have which information related to you and the transaction on their site, or used to). Which reminds me, I need to order a wifi extender... heading over there now!

I've been using Brawker. I have not used Purse.io due to some security concerns - a person in Germany had some issues with someone buying his stuff using a stolen CC and got raided,  according to a post on Reddit. The purse.io website is not very confidence-inspiring and they have not done much PR (IMHO) to remedy the security issues. Brawker on the other hand has trumpeted Multi-sig and their own security assurance against fraud. I would like to see them implement some kind of insurance as a next step (like $5000 purchase insurance or something) to back up their security claims.

I'm amazed that more people don't use these tools - I usually save 7-15% on every purchase and I normally pay 0 tax and 0 shipping. My BTC purchase only costs me 1% - I buy stuff using Brawker then immediately re-purchase BTC. Just in the last two months I've saved over $100USD on purchases using Brawker. I am not poor but I am definitely not going to spend $100 more for the same products - over the course of a year I expect my savings will be over $1000.

You set your own discount; of course, setting a high discount means it will take longer before anyone is interested in taking you up on your offer, if ever. They used to have a guarantee that a discount less than 10% would be filled within a day, but I don't know if that's still operative.

Regarding security, I was one of the people that was burned (apparently) by fraudulent buyers; Amazon started canceling a bunch of gift cards I'd bought via Purse without warning. Amazon was very difficult to deal with, but Purse ended up giving me a total refund on my BTC. They've been very good to work with in my experience.

Coindesk has an article up right now about how Purse has opened a bricks-and-mortar store in San Francisco, offering items at a 10% discount from Amazon prices. The catch is they only accept bitcoin! That inspires confidence, since they can't hide out as an anonymous internet entity while operating a physical store. Scammers might try to utilize their service, but I'm pretty comfortable the Purse team itself is on the up-and-up.

No the person you are buying from does not know your address (except for your City/State/Zip code). You create a wish list on amazon and then give purse the link to the wishlist.

Purse only works with items sold directly by amazon therefore buying used items will most likely not work, although the savings from buying via purse is likely greater then the savings from buying used items via amazon. Although when buying via purse you are risking that the person buying is using a stolen credit card which could result in you being the target of a law enforcement investigation
