Today I received mail from Coinbase saying:

Coinbase is now available in 23 countries across Europe
You can now:
Buy bitcoin from Coinbase or sell bitcoin to Coinbase using a euro bank account
Utilize our full suite of merchant tools

This is good move I think.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Shocked
Anyone think it has anything to do with this?

In January 2015, Coinbase received a US$75 million investment, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, the New York Stock Exchange, USAA, and several banks, "apparently the first time any traditional financial institutions have taken direct stakes in a bitcoin enterprise".

Regardless, wonderful news.  Smiley

This is great news. The problem is I don't trust coinbase and I don't trust European banks, so it's not much good to me Cheesy

I wish there were more/better exchanges in Europe.

Considering I have a US bank account and German bank account I wonder how much easier it will be to move dollars to euros and back using Coinbase.

If it is easy and cheaper than current bank transfers, a lot of people in my office will probably start using it.

Yes, I was exactly thinking on this as big benefit. Bitcoin will be more attractive now.

They also treat Bitcoin as a currency. Which comes with complications.
