I was just (a couple hours ago, last client software update about 12 hours ago) in a OFC/p ring game losing my shirt. BouncyBall got into FL. He activated his timebank while placing his FL cards, then submitted his hand, the next guy placed his, then it was my turn, but BouncyBall's time bank was still counting down.

I don't know if this is just a client-side bug, or whether BouncyBall's time-bank really did keep running after he had made his play, but either way it's not right.

Just here to post my weekly crybaby gripe about the fact that apparently swc is windoze only Sad  Seriously, how many people actually still run windowz?

A lot more then don't , obviously otherwise site would have rolled out in reverse.

i have asked a few times when will they launch a mac version, but admin always ignored my posts.

Pretty sure I heard numerous times throughout this thread Micon stating that non windows is in the works .  It sucks for people that have non windows but at the same time have to give them a chance.

I have been combing the internet the past few days reading news sites, forums, and review sites.

Some have accurate information, others have wild speculation.

Just note that you can always come here and hear it straight from the source if there are any questions.

1)  Other clients:  HTML5?  sure, eventually.  Mac?  you know we want it worse. "WHY IS IT ONLY WINDOZE YOU FOOLZ?"  Remember, we relaunched SwC with brand new software in a matter of days. This should have won an American Poker Award, but sadly we were once again snubbed.  The other clients will be built, with Android, Mac, & Linux coming first.  HTML5 seems to be popular enough that we'll have to do it.  I don't expect it to be in the next 2 months - the other clients are more important based on users.

2)  Table Starter & Krillback have been paid.  Next week should be smoother.

3)  Affiliate program likely tomorrow.  I know I keep saying that.  It's really close.

Was passed without *public* comment Smiley

...although I meant to respond publicly right after reading it, but instead forwarded the report to our wiki.  The issue was responded to, it was related to the guy that took the BB 2x in a row issue - so it was quickly identified.  It will be fixed shortly.

I really think that if you get HTML5 going it will be wonderful (cross-platform, browser is sandboxed, etc).

Just here to post my weekly crybaby gripe about the fact that apparently swc is windoze only Sad  Seriously, how many people actually still run windowz?

92% of desktops run windows, 7% Mac and linux a wopping 1.34%. LOL.

I'm kinda stoked that Linux desktops are over 1% now.  Anyway, there's also this: desktops themselves are kinda like dinosaurs now.  I know I haven't had one since the mid 90s.  I know windows is popular on laptops too, but I think my point here is that more and more folks are using mobile devices for computing and communication so getting and android client out there will certainly allow me (for example) to try out the new swc.

Finally, now I'm sorta starting to get desperate for my seals poker so I have to ask, has anyone tried to run this windows client thingy using WINE?  I haven't installed wine on my linux system in like more than 5 years but I may be willing to give it a try if it might get seals working again.

There was this post during the testing phase:

Have new software up on my computer right now, it's titties.

Need a few more beta testers, there are bugs that need reporting.  You must be old-school SwC to get in this one.  We are basically testing the games for "satoshi stakes" and having a bit of fun doing so Smiley

Things are not quite there yet, that's why we are doing this part.  SwC is known for rigorous testing and security first.  Sorry for the massive dick tease here if you don't get in, but I'm reaching out on all channels because even in a beta environment you need a critical mass of players to make it spin so you can get usable test data.

list your SwC username if you'd like to apply.  I'm going to be very selective, so sorry in advance to most of you.

All will be revealed.

Hello Mr. Chairman.

I am was ncsu. I have been a seal for nearing 1.5 years. I currently play under the name hashcash. You should choose me to help test software because I:

a) I play both on windows client through wine, want to use the linux client, and play on android quite a bit.
b) Seals has changed my life for the better by introducing me to bitcoin, poker, and the people in both. It has helped me become focused again on school and general learning. I want to be a part in the future of seals and help it become better.
c) I have been considering quitting seals due to my inability to learn BRM. This major leak forces me to either keep losing money, leave poker, or freeroll it up which I am attempting to do.
d) You saw my cock.
e) I am an active and trusted member in the seals troll chatbox. I help out people with a few chips here or there when I can if someone says something funny or is a new player wanting to try the site out.
f) OFC is rumored to be in the coming package. I am very excited for this.

TY Micon if you read that.

Thanks tipping point, but I think that this guy was saying that he used the old windows client using WINE.  Since he's asking here to try out the new software, I'm assuming that this is before he got a chance to try it.

As I recall, installing and using WINE is a real hassle, you have to create this virtual "C:" drive (brings me back to when I was a kid using DOS) and then you always have shit-tons of problems trying to find the right dlls to make whatever you're trying to run actually run.  I think the only thing I ever got running on it was Civilization III Smiley

All that is to say that I don't really want to fuck with WINE at all unless someone else has already done it and can say that it works.  If there's a witness to that, then I may be convinced to try over the weekend or sometime when I have some time to play around with it.

There is a way to get windows free for 90 days in virtualbox.  It expires after 90 days, but then you can just reload the original image.  see http://pclosmag.com/html/issues/201309/page15.html for more information on how to do it.

That's pretty interesting since as far as I know (I haven't ever tried it) I can basically do apt-get install virtualbox to install that (that may not be the right package name but I think they have a .deb in the tree somewhere).  I'd be very happy with a nukeable windows just to try this out because god knows I'm not going to pay for that shit.

EDIT: Just got a chance to reread some of the previous pages and I really like what dooglus has been saying.  I can't agree more.  Windows is rooted by MS, there's no way to secure that as far as I can tell.  Choice of client was obviously intentional, sealswithclubs was working on new software and they decided to start with windows.  Others who say "well windows users are the majority" are missing (I think) the fact that there were cross-plaform options (shit, you could have even built a java app which would have run everywhere---java obviously has issues too) and if they had started with these, they'd have immediately been able to keep their userbase instead of losing x% of us immediately cos we don't have windows.  Anyway, I guess I won't try to echo what he said anymore it's just that I think he's doing a much better job than sed (no offense dude) at getting the points across.

That doesn't work when you make the decision to BUY AN EXISTING windows poker client because everyone liked it with the intention of first customizing it to Seals, then writing versions for other OSes.  Agents with guns fucked up that plan.

The choice was to have the site down for a few months for everyone, or just make the small subset of users who were not using the windows client (myself included - 197,000krill on android across 2 years of daily play) wait for a few months.  It is a very easy business decision.

They'll keep getting all kinds of malware, keep having their bitcoins stolen, and just think that's how it has to be.

When you try to tell them there's a better way their eyes glaze over and they think you're trying to say you're "better than them".

@dooglus - If linux was the 90% and windows was the 1%, i think that we would see an explosion in malware development for linux.  I have found that people are open minded to hearing about a better way, but too many people present the idea as "Your way is stupid - here is a better way" which comes across as "you are stupid and i'm better than you".

If nerds could do a better job explaining to the common person why changing from something that they know to something that seems/is more complex.....bitcoin would have wider usage by now.

I keep getting called for an open seat at a full table Huh

Each time there is a player that is disconnected, not always the same player.  If nobody is disconnected I don't get called when table is full.  Seems that the client thinks the seat is empty when a player is disconnected.

Probably not the right place because the ofc scoring comes from elsewhere, but it seems bogus to me. I'll post here in case it's a bug, because I just don't get this.

this is probably because there was a shortstack in the hand, but here it goes.

Hand 1. Seat 3 gets kings up > 8s up > Aces to beat my flush > 66 > q high for 6 points, so I ship him 750

While he's in fantasy land I get 3s full > 777 > AA, which is better than his flush  > qq > 22 by 19 points, but he ships me back 685. Feel like I should at least get the money back from the hand before, and not getting fantasy land because the 3rd guy didn't have enough money to pay me (even though he didn't bust) sucks too.

Short stacks make every game horrible.  Don't short stack/don't play with short stacks and you won't have any problems.
