Alright I'm back again but this time I'll be sure to be nicer than before (thanks for the comments Micon, tspacepilot, dooglus).  How long did you say until we might expect the android client?

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

2)  OFC/p tournaments are really fun IMO. They haven't been spread much, this is one of the most innovative features of SwC IMO.  A heads-up shootout version is a neat idea, and will be tried. When we did a 3-handed shootout, the time waiting for other tables to finish was annoying. It wouldn't be quite as bad for heads-up, but it won't feel right. I'll show you.

We did a bunch of these on Grid. They're approximately as annoying as a NLHE HU shootout. There's some dead time but HU OFC hands are way faster than 3-handed and that helps a lot.

Quote
2a)  The 3-handed OFC settlement rules will be better explained.  The 1-chip thought experiment is fair because the button is random. A hypothesis regarding OFC MTTs could be that button draw for a new table becomes more important as you lower player chipstacks.  This way of settling OFC makes for the ability to play tables stakes OFC & bust players in tournaments.  It is fair in that all have to play under the same rules. I think over time, players will come to understand how OFC is settled and start to disect the myriad of player-facing considerations deep in OFCaments or low on chips at the cash tables.

OK, at least one of us has already played dozens of these and done a lot of this dissection but by all means don't listen. Yes, OFC needs table stakes rules, and there isn't a very good solution, but that isn't reason not to try to mitigate how often it comes up.

I know you guys are busy, but still want to suggest making the box around the active player turn red instead of white.

Makes it a lot easier to tell whose turn it is.

1) tyvm for the UI suggestion.  I agree we need to work on that "highlighted player" graphic.  We did it once about 4 months ago before we were actively playing with it in beta format, time to take a proper look now that 1000's are using it and quickly identifying all issues

2) yes, we have some help, but could still use a graphics / css / web design guy.  Ideally they would be a master of the Photoshops or Gimps and be able to and excited about coding an HTML5 client when the time arrives.

3) Affiliate system still really close.  I know, I know, I blew it on the time-promise here.  We are testing it still.

I posted the following on the old thread by mistake Embarrassed

I just noticed that I received my krill + table starter rakeback 3 days ago.  It is listed in Cashier>Transactions along with every table buyin/reload as well as every time you leave a table.  Please put it on your list of things to do making the transaction history more like it was on Seals.  I'm sure you can make it even better.

Thank you

it's been added to the list of things to filter from that screen.  Every table sit & table leave is of course waaaay too much info spamming the transactions screen.

thanks for pointing it out, we're on that one.

Anything else please feel free to post it publicly here - all feedback is valuable at this early stage.

would be nice if there was some way to encourage playing currently... the tables are pretty dry.  i know other sites are doing freerolls for players that play x number of hands on that day.  maybe something if you earn x amount of krill you qualify for a nightly/weekly tourney.

It would be nice if the software didn't snap stand you up when you sit out.  I think I was gone 2 minutes and it had stood me up.  The timer needs to be a 10 min wait minimum.

The most effective program to encourage playing is to attract new players who will actually play, rather than wait for the next freeroll.  Sources of new players who will play include

  • players from other internet poker sites who may appreciate low rake, anonymous poker
  • people who already have Bitcoins but do not currently play internet poker
  • live poker players

Getting someone from one of those groups to download the software, and try it with some chips, is the key ingredient.

Freerolls are part of the big picture.  The Affiliate program has a greater potential to give long-lasting incentives to SwCPoker players who find more players to play.

Have you tried table starting?  I think a lot of the problem is that everyone has the same point of view...they log in, don't see a table running of what they want to play, and either leave or sit in the lobby waiting for someone else to table start.  If you open a table and request action in the lobby, you'll def get some takers.

With 189 players connected, SwC Poker is currently a bit smaller than Seals was.

Blame it on the windoze Smiley

anyway, when we build out our platform and fix our bugs, these games will fill up.

Remember table starter rakeback is on for all games, 6max+.  Playing 2 or 3 handed gets you auto-50% rakeback, so that is a proper incentive to help me start some games until we have all clients & the affiliate program.

I asked this before and if you answered I didn't see it: how does table starter RB work for OFC/p games?

Thanks Micon.  It's not one of the most important issues but I've been asked about it a few times, and it's a pretty quick fix.

I forgot that the other change I made was to make the open seats go darker when you're already sitting at the table.  It makes the seats that actually have players stand out more.

Also just added a hint of red inside the box.  You can do more but I think this is a good balance between easily seeing where the action is without being too distracting.

Agree with both posts.  I've been starting tables even when I don't feel like playing just to help the site... and overall it's been pretty successful.  You can go from 1 to 6 players in just a few minutes.

From my experience the players are there, but they wait until a few people get a table going before they feel comfortable sitting down.

I understand that games will grow with more platforms and the affiliate program... but I do think it would help to do something small right now.

It doesn't even have to be much - but it will encourage the guys sitting on the sidelines to sit and keep games going.  Then when someone logs in and sees games already running they're a lot more likely to stay.

I think even doing a one week promotion of 1.5x to 2x bonus krill would give it a kickstart.

If that's not easily adjustable with the software yet, there are other options that should work that are cheap/free.

Even just making people aware of the table-starter rakeback/bonus would be a good start. I was unaware of it until now.

Maybe offer a similar bonus for OFC/p tables too, even though they're never 6-max.

Forgive me if this in the thread already...
MAC people:  You can run the client with CrossOver.  I just installed a trial version of it and it installed & launched the Windows client without incident.

**I have not sat at a table yet...just did the install**

I am on Mac OS 10.10.2 (Yosemite)

I only have a signature because I'm allowed.
