Micon pled guilty today, in exchange for no jail time, probation, can file to have his record reflect a gross misdemeanor instead of a felony, $25,000 fine, and he agreed to allow Nevada to keep $900, 3 Bitcoins, and electronics that they confiscated.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Yes, this!  We may have to wait until his probation is finished but hopefully after that the man can at least get back to free-speechifying.  It's such a shame that he is being punished for being brave enough to put his face and name behind what he does.  But as long as powerful governments are willing to punish people for such bravery, Micon has taught us a lesson that anonymity and encryption are required for freedom.  Nevertheless, having taught us this lesson, Micon will hopefully be able to have an even larger platform for discussion of ideas---although, I think he'd better stay away from actual businesses from now on.

Thats great. Don't know if I should congratulate him , but this is definitely much better than jail time or the punishment he could have got, looking at the trend for laws against cases involving bitcoin. Any word from him , if he will leave US again to operate the site from Antigua ?

Probation terms will probably limit his travel.  Even if he was allowed to travel during that period, it probably wouldn't be to do exactly what he's on probation for doing.

The worst part of this to me is that Micon is taking the sting for simply being brave enough to admit what he was doing.  As far as I can tell, he merely put a friendly face and a front door onto an otherwise anonymous business.  Anyway, I'm just saying that I hope that the silent partners from seals with clubs who stayed anonymous and are completely off the hook are going to be paying micons fees and his rent and whatnot for a long time.

Nevertheless, it seems that things could have been a lot worse for Micon so in that sense there is good news here.  The man gets to stay with his family and avoid jail.

I agree, it sucks that he's being kinda forced to plead guilty and take the full wrap just because he was the only one involved with the site that was publicly known.  But I respect that he didn't try to clear himself by turning on the others.

Overall considering the worst case scenario I am happy for Micon and his family.

He hasn't made any statements, but for now I'm sure that he will remain there at least during the probationary period.  And the site will continue to be run by the other team members.

Yeah, I know that it kills him that he hasn't been able to do DD or even post on Twitter recently.

I imagine his lawyers will still advise him to keep staying quiet during this time... but once it's settled and he's completely clear I think he'll bring it back and we'll get some fun stories.

Conspicuously not wearing a sealswithclubs hat, ha!

Good to know that the terms of his probation don't prevent him from playing poker!

No, we ain't down, and we'll never be down. Action will fly high til we die. They can't point guns at all of us. Free (as in freedom) BTCitcoin poker will stick around.

Join us for our Sunday lineup in solidarity with our downed brother Micon. We'll miss him dearly during his absence.

They aren't in the lobby yet, but there was some maintenance downtime last night and there will be a client update in a few days to set them up.

Thanks Smiley I read the words before the pictures in that post but I didn't expect the few words afterwords and scrolled right past it.

Hopefully the krillrolls will attract more players.

This is a wise decision imho, he is doing whatever he has to do to avoid Jail but what's going to happen to his GoFundMe funds? Are they going to return the funds to the donators or just keep all of it? Because according to this they have decided to not let Micon wthdraw the funds, maybe because it must have broken one of their terms & conditions.

After the court issued an arrest warrant in April, Micon started a crowdfunding campaign through the website GoFundMe to get $100,000 in donations for his legal defense.

Although he managed to raise $4,005 from 59 donators, GoFundMe prohibited Micon to withdraw the funds.

If its not too late and they are not refunding the donators, a chargeback would be the best thing to do .
