I am new to bitcoin and Id like some bitcoins. I downloaded the bitcoin program and got
.02 bitcoins from the bitcoin faucet site. Ive turned on 'generate' for a little while but
I dont think Im getting anywhere. Ive got a pretty fast dual core cpu, what is the
best way to make some bitcoins the fastest?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Never use the CPU mining on the bitcoin client, it is SO outdated it's not funny. You need a good GPU miner (I prefer poclbm), to get good results, and even then you should be using a pool. Read the basic tutorials and look at the wiki for some more info Smiley

make a dwolla account. deposit money. tranfer to mtgox. buy btc. wait and profit. Easiest and the fastest to get BTC directly on your own.
