As we all know the launch of Bitcoin was quite stealthy. What was the date when Bitcoin became well-known?
Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

That depends on what really implies the term "Well-Known"
As i know Bitcoin is still not well-known.

Let's define "well-known" as a point where a new launch wouldn't be called "ninja".

lol
Sorry, but this thread doesn't make much sense.
How was it ninja?
I mean, there wasn't a big announcement in the Newspaper, that Bitcoin are comming, but that is just because there is no big company behind it, which could afford that.
Are all the Kickstarter-projects also ninja launches?

Well! It's Ninja for those who don't know about it but i would say it was around when Mtgox went down for most people

Yup.
It was $90 to $1100 for me.

I read about Bitcoin in some article online, looked at the price and it was $90. I transferred $180 to BitStamp to buy 2 Bitcoins. The price kept increasing steadily and I waited for it to come down to $90 again so that I could buy 2 BTC. And it went all up to $1100.

"The Bitcoin Ninja" almost killed me.

During this large increase in the price, I bumped into an announcement on the Internet about bitcoin. But I was very foolish not to give importance.

agree, the distribution of coins is suboptimal.
Bitcoin had a first wave of public attention in 2013 - before that imo there weren't all that many people aware. By todays standards it should be called 'ninjalaunch', correct. By the time the public became aware most coins were mined already.

it was not a big launch because most people can't trust this at that time
they never thought it will grow like this and get popularity

I gotta say the Ninja launch of Bitcoin was in 2013 with the Mt.Gox run up to $1200.

That year really put Bitcoin on the map, and piqued a ton of curiosity from the sidelines.

That is also the time ,media covered it , and many people got into it right after that

In late 2012, I think some people started noticing it. And then in early 2013, Cyprus happened and the rest is history

Not many people know about bitcoin back then. Maybe the main reason why people started having interest on bitcoin is during the ath that peaked $1200. On that time frame, a huge influx of new users were seen, thinking that bitcoin will get them to millions. Bitcoin awareness began when the price keeps increasing steadily.

Yeah a lot of people probably got in after media explosion and the peak of its value.

"Oh look! Another get-rich quick scheme! Another opportunity to get my first million! Let's buy a couple of coins and wait for the value to increase!"

The mindset of every person when they saw the ath back in November 2013. Sad </3
