+1 if you want to learn about mining its fine to let it mine for like 5-10 mins, but definetly not going to make a single penny leaving it mining  24/7
The electricity it will consume will cost ALOT more

Gotta learn somewhere. I spent a week CPU mining in May 2013 before buying some GPUs, working them for a month before buying USB BE and on up. Nothing wrong with learning as long as you don't smoke the hardware. Which I've also done.

Download and install ATI SDK v11 or so.
Download and install CGMiner v3.1 or so.
Find a PPS pool... (F2Pool?)
Setup account on pool.
Setup cgminer.
Mine.

Edit: I missed the Intel part so the ATI SDK is useless.  I'm not sure you can even mine with that chipset.

Honestly, I wouldn't advise mining with that GPU. It's mobile graphics isn't it? Which means your computer is a laptop? I wouldn't advise mining with any laptop since they can easily overheat.

That being said, your GPU supports OpenCL so technically it could be used for mining but you would most likely make less than a cent a day.

It would be better to mine GPU-mineable altcoins rather than Bitcoin or ditch the GPU and mine CPU mineable altcoins with your CPU instead and then sell them for bitcoins. Again, I wouldn't advise using a laptop for this though. To mine any reasonable number of bitcoins at all, you really, really need an ASIC (which are also expensive and bring a completely new set of problems).

Not sure about this. It seems that someone was able to mine bitcoins on an HD 4000 so the same should be possible with the HD 4400 (still a terrible idea though):

You can try to mine altcoins, because Bitcoin GPU mining was profitable in 2012.

The new Intel graphics "cards" such as the HD 4400 are actually built directly into the CPU itself (strange, but true) so an overheating one would likely cause damage to the CPU rather than the motherboard.

mining with GPU is no longer an option in bitcoin mining, since the difficulty has gone up it can not be done. if you are so interested in mining with your GPU you can look into mining altcoins, but do your research to find a suitable one.

You'd be surprised at how much better the newer Intel integrated graphics are nowadays. It used to be that all integrated graphics were terrible but recent chipsets are competitive with low range dedicated ones which wasn't the case just a few years ago. The HD series was a huge improvement over the earlier GMA series and the difference between earlier and later HD chipsets can be quite significant too. The 4400 happens to be one of the more recent and better ones but most of the new integrated graphics from Intel can play on decent fps on even some newer games.

Not all of the coins on Coinwarz are scrypt coins. The ones with ASICs built for them are SHA-256 and Scrypt. There are about ten other algos there that don't have ASICs (yet).

I'm not sure if I understand the poll question. What's the difference between hardware mining via GPU and software mining via GPU? Isn't all GPU mining done using a combination of both (i.e. the hardware performs the actual hashing operations and the mining program is the software that controls the hardware)?

Even though they have improved the graphics, the opencl calculation rates still suck. AMD and nvidia are much better as they are focused on performance. Integrated graphics isn't for gamers or developers. CPU mining on laptop is indeed hazardous. My GPU went up all the way to 95degrees Celsius last time i tried on my laptop.
