I've seen quite a few scams and horror stories in relation to converting BTC to USD available in Paypal, does anyone know a bona fide safe and effective way of doing this?

I know that with Comkort you can send USD to OKPay and then exchange onto Paypal from there, but if there is an effective all-in-one solution, I would rather use that.

No is the short answer. But a better question is why not just spend the BTC? It's money.

In my case, I got crypto to help fund gamedev.  Whilst I may be persuaded to use the crypto directly, my fellow devs have absolutely no interest in doing so and just want USD (weirdly we all deal mainly in USD as a common denominator despite the fact that the dev team are based in the UK, Greece and Italy!!).

Is the Comkort > OKPAy > Paypal route safe?  (If a bit of a dogs leg involving several agencies taking their cut...)

I would worry about how much I have to give up using the "dog's leg" route you described. You may want to try an add on craigslist or the like. A lot of people want bitcoin and if you can find a steady face to face buyer it is a lot simpler. But the problem you have is a common one.

What concerns me about that idea is the warnings I've seen on this forum about selling directly for payment by Paypal... which could be revoked after the BTC has been sent, and little to no recourse you can take about it if you happen to come up against someone unscrupulous.   Angry

Near each e-shop accept PayPal. Plus, if you haven't received your productyou can request a refund !

If you would rather go towards the long approach, another option is to withdraw your paypal fund going to your credit card and then use some exchanger service that allows you to buy bitcoin and pays using credit card. At least here you remove out paypal and in case there is a dispute you could probably rely on the credit card service to protect you. But even then, there's no guarantee it is absolutely 100% safe.
