There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It's because people didn't even realise or know what Libertarianism actually was at the time, you should note, 2005 is roughly the time Ron Paul started getting popular and the financial crisis happened Libertarians were one of the few people about who were actually calling out mainstream politicians on their bullshit, but as people now know what the hell Libertarianism actually is the searched for it will go down.

Meanwhile, you can expect Bitcoin to be up massively still for a few years to come, search results aren't necessarily a good indicator of interest so to speak but what people what to find out about.

Im figuring its alot to do with the word also, the next generation is much more libertarian yet dont know it as such.  Bitcoin boom could turn people libertarian over night for sure.

There other words. "Libertarianism" may not be the most popular. You may also check "Anarchy"...

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

American "libertarianism" is growing only among sheltered suburban white males with republican parents. Most healthy teenagers grow out of childish Randian philosophy before they turn 17. Only those who stop reading other philosophical works, the fundamentalists, remain libertarians.

You know what I'm going to ask don't you? Who's the source for this poll you've just posted and what's the sampling data from it? Sounds like bullshit stereotyping to me frankly, it's like saying all communists are poor white coal miners and builders etc. and they want a welfare state paid for by other people.

Libertarianism picked up one in me recently.

I've calling myself a Leftist and have been tussling with Libertarians for decades.  I have exactly the same complaints against the movement that I always have.  The big shift has been a recognition of how powerful the Left has become and how dis-proportionally the pernicious aspects of the movement have swelled relative to the other aspects.  One could claim that this is a result of the movement being subverted, but at the end of the day the suggestion is a somewhat lame cop-out.

Libertarians are the lesser of two evils to me at this point and a system based on these principles has room to grow and improve.  From here onward the path of the Left is a descent into totalitarianism and the awfulness that that brings.

Libertarianism seems to have peaked in the United States and Western Europe. The growth is slow there. But there is much scope for growth in the third world, especially in countries such as India, South Africa and Brazil.

What you describe are people called 'social' conservatives who aren't necessarily Republican or Libertarian but have instead hijacked the movement and insist on claiming a part of these groups, like with how the left is infested with Misandrists and politically correct fascists the right has been hijacked by racists and homophobes.

I am decidedly centre when it comes to the kind of issues that are mainstream currently, I refuse to take a side on this, not when I have so much contempt for both sides and of this very narrow minded view on politics. If you're also going to make so many complaints about capitalism I'd sure like to hear some real solutions for it instead of just whining because currency was invented as a solution to bartering. It wasn't ever intended for the purposes it is used now which is why everything has gone so wrong.

You didn't read the chart. The very bottom line says "Source: Public Religion Resource Institute, American Values Survey 2013" and so on.

What middle class? This isn't 1965, the middle class has been replaced by Chinese, Indians, computers, or robotics such as in automobile manufacturing.

And this trend is going to continue until an American employee has a lower cost of living than their labor competition in Asia. Or the total collapse of the system, such as if one day Americans get pushed one inch too far from their "dream" (a fantasy), one inch too close to third world living conditions.

It maybe a case of progressive and (US defined) liberalism ideas collapsing, instead of libertarian views growing. It could also be both and that would be great news
