As we use this forum and see it! Theymos is our awesome admin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=35But i always thought that Theymos created the forum and continued to develop it so well! Seeing this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5.0Satoshi welcome's everyone to new forum , dumping up the old one . My question is who exactly created the forum I always thought it was Theymos , but it seems Satoshi was original creator of this forum. Then how did Theymos got his admin post , did satoshi appoint him as being one of the early adopter's ? PS : that is the first post for General people though there were 4 more theads for testing by satoshi https://bitcointalk.org/first_topics/Thanks to theymos for providing this to us . It got some really awesome and great things

The forum was created by satoshi. The domain is owned by Sirius, and managed by theymos.
I am not sure how theymos became administrator of the forum, however he is one of the very early users of bitcointalk.

I'm not sure of the particulars but I heard there was a sizable donation of coins to this forum for its operation to some extent. Sounds like a very interesting timeline tho. I'd like to hear Theymos' opinions of the Bitcoin market up to this point, not sure I've ever been graced with this person's presence. Would be like a mystery unfolding..

The story of how I became head admin is actually pretty boring. Moderators were needed, so I was made a global moderator. Then admins were needed, so I was made an admin. Then over time the other admins slowly lost interest and resigned until I was the only one left. I guess most of the people who were around here to see this have more-or-less left the community now. That's a bit sad.
It's not entirely clear, but for simplicity I usually say that I became head admin at the beginning of 2011, a little over a year after the forum was created.
The forum was originally located at bitcoin.org/smf, then forum.bitcoin.org (hence the redirect), and finally bitcointalk.org. Fun fact: The name "bitcointalk" was invented by Jeff Garzik, and he's the one who bought the domain.

but how did theymos got hold of it when he didn't knew of bitcoin at that moment???
theymos came to know about Bitcoin when he found a person complaining on 4chan about "how long it takes to download the Blockchain?", IIRC. It was obviously theymos' idea but others have contributed to it. -MZ

Wow! it's an honour that you replied It's not at all boring , am sure those who left ,must be really repenting it now. So, orginally Jeff bought the domain not Sirius Thank you for clarifying so much here This is important and awesome story for me as btctalk is the largest community of btc

I think there is lesson in this thread somewhere. Something like "stay the course" or "win by attrition" .
This should be the overall motto for bitcoin.

So I was right about the bitcoin.org domain! Yeap you were right. First satoshi created this forum as a folder under bitcoin.org/smf/ in December 2009 Then it was located to subdomain forum.bitcoin.org in May 2011 Finally it was completely seperated from bitcoin.org in September 2011. Ps: Those dates are decided according to web.archive.org archives.

could be an account with satoshi name used by some people, and satoshi is in fact not one person but a group of people. do not matter who made this forum. but the most important is how to keep this forum in order to remain there

I don't think Satoshi is a few people but there is a chance. If he is a few people, then he writing language will be different but there wasn't any claimings it was different though there was a claiming his English is so fluent and great. -MZ

But at the time, I thought I was dealing with a young man of Japanese ancestry who was very smart and sincere. I've had the good fortune to know many brilliant people over the course of my life, so I recognize the signs.
