Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

January 13 wasn't a Friday but it certainly was a horror, that was the day BTC changed directions from a full year of negativity to a new year of hope.
It's about time isn't it?
This is one of those moments in time when you blink you miss it, i hope you guys are not holding them coins to tight it could be dangerous but i am only a newbie pay no attention to me it is going to the moon pretty soon just ask half the forum. |

It is real good this time , from like a month or two , the rise was fast and it again fell down but it is going pretty slow and easy this time .
The BTC Train is moving good and pretty. WHoop Whoop!
I would not get exicted yet, lets see if it holds this price for a few days, it hasn't been a full 24 hours since it reached $280. I ain't excited but let me explain it to you , am not that good at puling charts ,SO From two months the price has not been pumped so high and it always goes down , though here it went up slowly and riding . But if you clearly check the market , there are certain people pumping it , so It'll go down again as what i think, but that cannot be entirely true . Seeing how many exchange went down this year, more and more people got the news and interest so they joined , much companies are starting to accept bitcoin and thus they are pumping the price , but no one is trying to dump hard , so it must stay good unless until someone buys that Ulbritch's batch and starts dumping You seem excited "The BTC Train is moving good and pretty. WHoop Whoop!". Pumping really fast will eventually result in a crash. The crash will happen in one or two days and lots of unhappy people again but everyone was pre warned it will crash but people do not like to listen when they have visions of 1000 dollars in their head lol Its the greed that stops people making more coin nothing else, to attached to the program and that is a bad move. Let it crash or be up , am not selling my coins , now am i ?  |

Most of the users here came for the money--not only the community--admit it. We can still get into that adoption, believe me, but as long as bitcoin has value, no one will ever disregard its price. |

I feel that it might take another week till it reaches $270 or $290 at least. Now people should start buying it as the rate is falling. |

I feel that it might take another week till it reaches $270 or $290 at least. Now people should start buying it as the rate is falling. I'd say the events today will influence it in one direction or the other, though I don't think the movement will be terribly abrupt. We shouldn't take long to see 300, maybe a month or so tops. |

Yeah, seems like the price has retraced slightly. If we look at the positive side, at 270 at least it's still considered higher than 240 level we seen weeks ago. The problem is a lot of people have high expectation that they want to see major movement. For me, even if it retraced a little, it is still good enough. As long as it increases steadily.

Very good point, I feel the same. Of course, all of us would like to see that price of bitcoin rich higher levels in shortest time as possible but patience is required here. In the long term, I'm confident that BTC will reach again $ 500 and more. |

The only thing I expect from the near days is, the resistance will become the support. Not saying whether it will see some highs, but yes, the probability of buys has increased since sell-offs have stopped these days. |

It seems like alot of people bought (or sold) when btc hit 261 at btc-e, volume has slowed down, but if it starts pumping a little I think trading volume will pick up. |
