Hi everyone,

It’s taken an enormous amount of time and effort for us to design and build Crowex, a web app which I hope will become a key platform for peer to peer contracts in digital currency.
I really believe Crowex has some unique aspects. The application was built from the ground up to provide a simplified process for escrow transactions. I’m very enthusiastic about the possible uses of Crowex, and now I need members of this forum to try it and tell me what they think.

I realise that you may not be as excited as me about my platform for digital currency contracts, so I have come up with this ingenious plan for getting you to try Crowex, while at the same time having some fun.

As you may know peer to peer contracts can be about absolutely anything from simple digital currency exchanges to buying goods and services. But for this exercise I thought it would be more fun to have a bet.

How to win the Bitcoin:

• Create an account at www.crowex.com and negotiate a bet with me on anything you like as long as it can be easily publicly verified and there’s a sporting chance for both of us (50:50 or close).
• I send 0.03 Bitcoin to the crowex (escrow) address.
• If you win, I release the Bitcoin to you, if you lose you release the Bitcoin back to me. Simple!

Get Started:

All you have to do is

• Register/Sign in to crowex.com and post your Crowex user name here.
• Then check your contracts page on Crowex and I’ll invite you to enter into a contract (my user name: crowexFreeBet).
• You then accept the invitation and write your bet.
• From there on in we can use the chat facility on Crowex to discuss and finalise the contract 
• Any questions before you start, please post here, if not join up at crowex.com and WIN BITCOIN!

Small Print:

• I wasn’t one of the early miners, so I’m forced to set each bet at 0.03BTC.
• Free bets limited to the first 50 people
• You have to have posted in this forum in the last two months from the date of this post and have at least a few posts.
• A fundamental point of a crowex contract is that there’s an arbitrator. I have asked an independent forum member (FuzzyBear) to arbitrate these bets.
• In order to protect myself from anyone who is unwilling to stick to the spirit of this exercise, I reserve the right not to bet with anyone without disclosing a reason.

We've had a few problems with yahoo not getting the activation e-mails because it's a new domain. Something to do with SPF records??

you could do anything peer to peer on crowex.com without the fear of getting ripped off!

Thanks clubsofsteel, just so that everybody understands, the coins are held in a type of multi-sig address so that it needs one party to agree to release the funds to the other party.
 Before you start the contract you both agree on an arbitrator - I've used fuzzyBear to arbitrate these bets so that if both parties disagree they can start a dispute and call in the arbitrator.
 Anyone can become an arbitrator just by ticking a box in their profile.
 
 You can have bets with friends or strangers as long as you can both agree on someone you can trust to arbitrate. The idea is to make escrow transactions really quick and simple.

 It should be really useful for currency exchange too.

Anyone can be an arbitrator, you just tick, 'willing to arbitrate' on your profile and fill in whatever info you want on your profile about what sort of contracts you will arbitrate and what you will charge. You can charge a fixed price, a percentage or nothing.

 Everybody needs to check that the arbitrator is who they say they are from some other source such as this forum or a known website or blog where they can publish their crowex user name. Both parties need to trust the arbitrator.

 The arbitrator cannot ever access the BTC he/she can only choose who gets them. The arbitrator is not even contacted unless there is a dispute and doesn't know anything about the crowex address or the contract unless a problem arises. Then if someone starts ta dispute he arbitrator waits to get any fees required off the two parties before making a decision. The arbitrator can join in the chat box and chat to both parties about the contract.

 I just asked fuzzyBear from this forum to do the arbitration for these bets because he is independent and trustworthy.

  Sorry everybody but this is quite time consuming and I've been doing this all day so I'm just going to finish the people that I've already sent contracts too.

 I originally posted this in project development but it got moved here so I'm being a bit selective about who gets a bet because I want to get people who are interested in new bitcoin projects and not just here for giveaways.

 I haven't got time to do this at the weekend but I will post here when I'm back to do more bets next week, so register on the site and look out for when I post that I'm available next week and then the first people to post their user names can have a free bet.
 I do try and check the previous posts to see that people are not just interested in free giveaways but are longer term users and interested in bitcoin itself so you might not get a bet if you're just interested in free stuff and not bitcoin itself.

You have a validation key problem.

Either:

    the validation keys do not match; or
    one party's private key has been lost and not stored in their local storage.

You may try restoring your private key details to their proper values, if you previous backed it up. Browse and choose the file containing the saved information and click on 'restore details'. All calculation will be local and the private key will not be sent to the server.

Thank you for explaining everything in detail. I tried the freebet and although I didn't win I can safely say from my experience that the site works flawlessly. If I had won I could have seen the other part of the outcome like how does the private key is revealed etc. But setting up a trade and releasing the escrow after a trade works without any problems.
