The more you understand how and where surveillance is done, the better you can protect yourself. Another option is to stay off the internet.

I don't see a link in the OP to show how the thesis point was made but I would assume in lieu of one, it only makes sense that the dumb are the boobs that do meaningless things on social media like posting pics of their animals and commenting on them back and forth with their friends and family. Also, they are the ones that are oblivious to the status quo of deteriorating personal and economic liberty and so are not a threat to it. The ''catch it all and store it all'' surveillance mentality is meant to toss the dragnet far and wide to scoop up all the info and key in on certain segments of topics and mentalities that are potentially subversive to the status quo.

This is addressed in Orwell's 1984. The majority of the population isn't surveilled at all. Only the Inner and Outer Party have the vigilance cameras everywhere and the doublethink stuff.
