T-Mobile offers 20pc bonus for Bitcoin customers

T-Mobile has begun accepting Bitcoins as payment for pay-as-you-go phone top-ups in Poland, and is even offering a 20 per cent bonus for those ditching cash and credit cards.

What's random about Poland? They've got ~15 million customers there.

Which country wouldn't be random and why?

when you don't have an idea of impact you want to limit any surprise impact, communications companies know the value of a good roll out

That's about 50% more than New York City in the USA.    That's nothing by any marketing standard.   And its not like everyone in Poland has TMobile.

Well I would've thought just making a worldwide release would make more sense rather than picking a country, because it's Bitcoin but that's just me.

Mobile operators have been fighting against banks for several years to establish their own financial system since the success of M-PESA, but they were constantly blocked by banks in developed countries, now they are seeking some new opportunity to get rid of banks' control once and for all  Cool

I was going to say why only Poland. Why not UK as you'd think there'd be more demand. That discount is pretty nice however. You can already buy top ups in the UK with bitcoins from crypto de change though https://www.cryptodechange.com/?post_type=product&s=top+up

Finally.... merchants have started passing on cost savings to bitcoin users.
When there are tangible advantages to customers paying using bitcoins, Bitcoin adoption is bound to increase.  Smiley
