How can I sign a message in the new blockchain?It seems I can't find a sign button there,I've only seen the verify one.It's not in the manage options.
By blockchain I assume you are referring to blockchain.info To sign a message, go to the "Settings" tab on left, Click on "Addresses", Click on "More Options" in front of your required address, Choose "Sign Message" . Does the new version allow signing messages? My last info is only the old wallet version does. Yes it does allow signing. I don't use blockchain.info much, but the steps above do work for latest version too ! I checked yesterday only. It's here : You may update the OP  I believe it will only work for the imported addresses, try to make new address and sign a message with it! If you make a new address in the new blockchain also do not work for sign message. It actually work for imported address. I do not know why the blockchain make this not available to sign message there with new address. |

Thanks for this guide and information. I've been thinking and looking for this topic for a while now. What are these signed message that are so important? when trading or lending, etc in btc Now i know.. Sorry I am really a newbie in kind of these stuffs, There so many things that I don't know about bitcoin, I will learn more!  |

I believe it will only work for the imported addresses, try to make new address and sign a message with it!
If you make a new address in the new blockchain also do not work for sign message. It actually work for imported address. I do not know why the blockchain make this not available to sign message there with new address. Add this as well. Thanks! |

Does anybody know how to sign a message from an old wallet.Because apparently I can't do it on blockchain.info as I have to import an address and this is taking too long for now.The other wallets I can sign from a new wallet but how I do it from an old one-for example the one in my blockhain.info account

IIRC there are webpages that allow this, but I didnt like them because they could easily steal your private key. Other than that, electrum is software that can help you here, you just have to create a wallet with that specific private key. If thats to close to 'importing' for you, I dont know anything else. |

I cant confirm that electrum no longer allows importing uncompressed keys. This message was signed using electrum 2.8.3 and the private key: 5JD1YosAJVHEtiks6x7xq8rhjHaBPMrxr3xYUVpj2uQF7mbb4RQ

I cannot import a wallet address in the latest Electrum with a '5' private key. Importing an 'L' private key does work.

Strangely, I am able to import the '5' key you used as an example. I need to check this further.

I understand that, but I just did it so it might be something on your end not with the wallet. Maybe ask in the electrum section about the specifics. |

It is unfortunate that blockchain.info does not offer signing messages from new address created in the wallet (only for imported addresses).. which does seem kinda strange..
