I'm waiting to make a shit locker of money. Gen 3 final specs are only one factor in that strategic goal. Call a spade a spade. If it wasn't about the money none of us would be here.

You can wait a long time, or even wait some more.. I reckon Spondoolies have got the cat in the bag, their chips are already outperforming the rest of the market, and they are prepared to sell chips alone - it's very possible Sp-Tech Gen2 is going to beat everything else, hands down. Their Gen1 is on a par with AM gen3 and Spondoolies-Tech are already working on a killer Gen3.

I have my SP10 here, already hashing and mined 1BTC to date, where you have there chips which merely match the efficiency of what I already have hashing? Spondoolies 'hammer' will flood the market before AM3, not to mention their RockerBox gen2 in July, so no matter how urged I am to invest here, it's difficult to give myself good reason to do so when so much better is on the horizon.

nur so als kleiner teaser It's not like chips weren't in the wild until now. http://blog.rockminer.com/#!/2014/04/07/ASICMINER%20gen3%20chips%20received He has them for almost one month.

FTFY Keep in mind that AM chip is 12gh/s compared to spondoolies 7.5gh/s. Basically means AM can sell the chips at half the cost compared to spondoolies/avalon. It is even likely that AM 40nm is cheaper than sp 28nm at the wafer level. Not to mention AM gen4 will probably be twice as fast as spondoolies (if die shrink benefits are equal.) If AM fixes whatever went wrong with 40nm efficiency then it will surely blow away even spondoolies 3rd gen chip.

you are comparing my 'already have' to your 'if this and, if that' Says the guy comparing a nonexistent 28nm chip to q working in hand 40nm chip. Comparing the two existing 40nm chips there is one clear winner and it ain't the 7.5gh one. Its a bit strange how fanatically you praise spondoolies and trash every other company. Ulterior motive much? News flash: spondoolies fun time is over. Its time AM takes over the market.

That's your only argument? i may not have been mining for an extraneous amount of time, but in that time, that I have been mining, I have bought many many different brands and many different manufacturers ASICs, and I have to say, not one compares with the quality of the rig I have hashing at the moment. our good friend's 12" is bigger than my 7.5" - but you feel free to ask my wife, it's not the size of it that matters, it's what you do with it again, AM ain't gonna come close to the quality and engineering that Spondoolies have managed, and will continue to manage, for a looooooong time to come. mine is bigger than yours love it!

With two chips that have nearly identical efficiency are competing, the winner will be the manufacturer with the lowest manufacturing costs. If AM costs $0.2/gh at the wafer level we can assume spondoolies cost around $0.4/gh considering they both use the same process size and chip fab. This simply means AM can and will lower the cost of their chips below what spondoolies can afford to. For example AM can sell chips for $0.4/gh and still profit whereas spondoolies cannot.

Not my thread, but to set the record straight: Hammers (our 1st gen) can achieve 10 GHs easily. Tested. May achieve more, not tested. On the system level, we're 0.8 - 0.9 W/GHs depending on the power mode. What I'm reading about AM gen3: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528464.msg6200783#msg6200783http://blog.rockminer.com/#!/2014/04/13/Testing_Results_Of_BE200.md One month already and getting 1 KW/THs ? We're doing better with our 1st gen, with nice margins. Cost: You got it completely wrong. Our 2nd gen (RockerBox) is much, much better in term of $/GHs then any 40nm ASIC out there.

But at 10gh is it still 0.55w/gh at the chip level? You got it completely wrong. Our 2nd gen (RockerBox) is much, much better in term of $/GHs then any 40nm ASIC out there.
It very well could be but until you have the chips in hand and tested you wont know. And how much is "much much better"? If it is a simple die shrink that would only be a 30% improvement.

We all know Gen3 isn't out yet, just some test samples; I'd be very concerned if I saw friedcat on Spondoolies forum 'straightening things out".
