I could be wrong, but I think Spon has shown interest.

So, Spondoolies is providing hardware to DataTankMining in return for mining/hosting capacity?

No

Apologies for the confusion. AM is not at risk being the Bitcoin chip supplier of choice for this operation. Keep in mind there will also be a shift to Scrypt mining in the future, at least partially.

For DTM it's most important to deploy capacity in order to fully utilize the potential of fast deployment and efficient operations. Having manufacturer support is an important element and it is in the interest of ALL chip manufacturers for their customers (miners) to be successful and "come back for more".

If what is keeping women out of mining, is the color of the heatsink on their miner, those women should stay out of bitcoin mining.

These kinds of efforts to bridge the gender gap are not helpful... they are just denigrating and insulting.

Agree 100%. Women stay out of mining because of comments like this; the best strategy to diversifying is avoiding such comments...

But what's keeping AM from mining? They have the chips, they have the immersion cooling setup, they got everything, but there is no mining.

7) What is the status of self mining? What is the rollout schedule for the data centers?

8 ) What is the status of franchising partners? When can we expect to see income from them?
We will report the more detailed status to the board first. The short answer is that deploying and financing is easy while getting cheap electricity and proper device solution takes time. When we have farms running we can update the related information with real time hash rate.

It seems that the solutions are out there, but FC refuses to use them for self mining: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=655464.0

Why?

I don't think, he refuses, AM is planning to start own immersion mining in June-July iirc.

The only time Havelock mentions being able to convert AM100 is upon dissolution of the asset...  I would love if they got rid of the 5% fee AND let you freely convert...

Hell, they should just remove AM1, convert them all into AM100, and remove the fee and be done with it... there really is not the liquidity to support both.

That may be a good idea!

Sometimes it pays to back page the thread
This makes sense to me as well.
Would support a 1/100 and 1 Share combination.

Not to offend, or be fussy. But I think you were the impatient one earlier. We are just trying to make sure that misinformation isn't spread.

Franchised mining

can you elaborate? I also don't see a franchise in it - I franchise out a portion of one of my businesses, on the basis that the business name draws more business towards the franchise, for this, my franchisee pays me a franchise fee once every ten years - for it to be a franchise, I get paid - albeit payments for the franchising of my business are far and wide, but.. i get paid.

whoever are supplying the chips, are not getting paid, so - this is what you see as a franchise? strange.

It could be the old 80/20 franchised mining model AM did in the past. AM has a lot of chips, they can produce very cheaply. If they provide a certain amount of chips or blades to DataTank for free, they could receive e.g. a certain amount of hashing power from them (mining income).

now i'd very much appreciate an update (if not a confirmation) by FC or a trustable board member on this.

edit: or maybe for the next round of questions?

edit edit: or just skip it all and get some unexpected divs? Grin Cheesy

It's very important to evaluate possible interpretations and clear up uncertainties, rather than automatically assume the interpretation that'd be the best case for oneself. These threads (much like /r/bitcoin) tend to become an echo chamber at times. One has to find the right balance of trust and cautiousness for these things to work out best.

I am all in for cautiousness. But at some point and for those hanging around here for a while now, it is clear that AM is doing there best to renew their marketshare if not dominate the industry. The lack of divs or communication is misleading as people tend to overreact and be overcautious about something which I believe to be under full control by FC. Its just the way (good) business is done. Better not saying anything before it is actually working, happening and official (ie. not like most ASIC manufacturers who are just having hard times keeping their words). That's the whole point and thats what makes AM unique. Despite being the first, they are still running whilst many other manufacturers got burned. In fact, I am sure FC has many more surprises to announce over summer.

Anyway, I am in it with you guys, just being patient and enjoying news as they come instead of always questioning FC's trustworthiness or ability to conduct the company towards great success. Smiley

Just an FYI: I own a small amount of shares in AM, have not and at the moment have no serious plans to purchase a SP10/30/etc.. Just wanted this information to be present before any questions make it to FC and rather not be called a troll or a FUDmaker.

Here is Spon dropping a tidbit of information during his/her/their trip to China for some conference or another.

That said-re chinese market. Guy, care to elaborate-you understand their marketing or price trends or whether they will develop 20nm or jump straight to 16nm?
Off topic, me to blame. I don't see a Chinese player doing more advance node anytime soon.
They're concentrating on maximizing profit and reducing cost and prices, short term.
AM Gen3 is selling at their own wafer cost. 40 PH/s of A1s
Lot's of low cost farms are being deployed. Seen some pictures.
3 shifts, 24 hours a day producing miners.

Here is Spon elaborating on exactly what he was referencing.

I think he is referring to the deal between DataTank and AM which was just reached 2 days ago? That is not Selling so much as a barter or trade, if I understand the deal correctly.

No. I'm referring to selling AM Gen3 ASICs to Chinese manufacturers in bulk.

You have word from legitimate sources that AM is selling their Gen3 ASICs to Chinese manufacturers in bulk at wafer costs? That is unheard of, thank you.

I wonder if the board is aware of this then..

From my understanding, this is not a smart, nor profitable idea.

Now I understand that Spon has reason to lie, I have yet to see them act in a deceitful or untrustworthy manner.

EDIT: A little more elaboration

Two bulk customers.

Regarding the "40 PH/s of A1s" — either that isn't referring to AM or Spon is confused. AM doesn't have an A1 chip (bitmine does).

What are A1s? And how would anyone but asicminer know what the wafer cost is and that he is selling them for that amount?
