I'm very surprised. Usually, unlike in neighboring France, this kind of things do not happen in Germany. Frankfurters will be shocked, as anyone in Germany. The Polizei isn't what it was, and I know many who will call for the police to be tougher.

You can't really complain that in Germany they use the German acronym for the central bank!
It doesn't mean that Germany runs the EU or the EU central bank, but it would be stupid to call it the ECB - Europäische Zentralbank

I am pretty surprised at how it is kicking off in Frankfurt though. Most people in Frankfurt rely on the banks, so i would guess the people causing bother are coming in to demonstrate.
There seems to be a spate of demonstrations nowadays though, pro-pegida, anti-pegida, anti-airport stuff and now this...

I personally would agree with 1refs generalization and expect it to be true. I visited Occupy camps in London when they were around. The vast majority were 'opportunists' to put it kindly.

Their scaremongering has led to a military display unseen in Germany with creating an exclusion zone, danger zone, water cannons, airplanes, helicopters and about 8000 troops. All of this to protect bankers. Just amazing. What the hell does this imply? Then, believe it or not, the ECB imposed an exclusion of the press. The ECB has decreed that their opening ceremony news agencies are permitted, but not newspaper journalists. Curious. The newspaper embargo raises the question of exactly what is behind this authoritarian show of force in the heart of Germany?

I have seen plenty of these "protestors" in real life here, and they are exactly the kind of people I described.

I don't have respect for these people, they say banks are bad, government is corrupt, etc.

The state finances the police, while the "honest politicians" will stand up for the people and will go and fix the problems and save the day, and then everything will be normal and start again, creating this dichotomy in the people's head.
