A sidebar for sidehack's thread  Avalon looks to be making a 5 chip 75gh to 125gh miner.  Not much info other they a software and a wiki page.

Appears to be using the 4.1 chips.  these are nice chips I got as low as .48 watts a gh underclocking them on the avalon 4.1

I wonder if they have been reading this thread  and thought  to build something between the 2 chip design and the larger retro fit- board.

I think our interest here has sparked them a bit.

Take it easy on me Bick.  My point is a small developer like sidehack may be stirring the giants a bit.

While theoretically possible, it's been in the works for a bit - the first public mention of intent was in the Reddit AMA: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/31zrl6/hi_im_ngzhang_founder_of_avalon_project_a_senior/cq6hzn2

Regardless, though, between GekkoScience, Avalon and SFARDS, there's fairly active development that isn't just intended for in-house or "don't call us, we'll call you" use Smiley

Thanks! Wanted to help sidehack. There is less and less person that want to make miner for everyone.

We need to help them!  Grin

Avalon will want to attack any possible market... look at their product development... copycat much. Big difference people will buy Gecko science before Avalon because we want to promote development not kill it as Avalon did last time . The consumers left willing to buy WANT to get or keep the best option that leads to decent pricing. Avalon's are not the rigs we want. Remember the chip sales... never forget it.

Bottom line... who would you spend your bit coins on? The burgers and tshirts have spoken.

What if... what if we made a burger... on a t-shirt?

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

well they already had this last year this dice btc lottery brick at 160gh for 65 euro's I think that is 75 bucks usd

http://technobit.eu/index.php?id_product=93&controller=product&id_lang=1

so i would think that avalon if it makes a product will not be much less then 75 bucks for say 125gh unit

just saying ...they would have to step things up to a bigger boxes imho to have a shot ...if the market was there for this kinda thing at those
sizes....would have been more of these boxes sold back in the day

but it would be nice to have say a 500 usd box of some kind that still may lose a bit of $$ as a toy miner but not so much that you feel stupid for your addiction Smiley

(i have miner issue withdrawal...I did get this for the future just to feel useful when my titans go the way of doorstops it is just a bitcoin node to help
the network you can make no coin...but if it makes me feel less lonely watching it when it arrives in a couple months pllug away ..watching it via putty.exe ...what the heck......

http://bitseed.org/product/pre-order-bitseed-v2/

price went up 20 bucks for the 250gb drive option now it seems thou

you can probably build the same with a raspberry pi setup for like 80 bucks or so less but I did read that they recommend the new raspberry pi 1meg version now for such fyi....

we all cope with home mining being dead (or very soon) in our own way.......argh............(so sad) Sad

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. The UTXO database on ram almost fills up it whole already, you need more RAM to run a reliable, future-proof node. An APU with 8Gb RAM and 1TB hard disk is cheap and would probably serve this need for years.

Unless you move your mining "home" to a certain, cheaper country, where even a 10x price increase of electricity would be still profitable Wink

If I leave Missouri it better be for somewhere colder. Somewhere with a peak summertime temperature of 15C or less would be great.

Talking about US, the ONLY place with these temp in the summer is Alaska; plenty of places in Canada and Northern Europe are at these temperatures, though.

My first choice would be on a mountain in Wyoming, but I was just this evening discussing Alaska with some folks.

Also, I definitely did no real work this weekend. I mean I finally fixed the windows in my Jeep, but I didn't really work on miners at all. Tomorrow I may do some more testing on noise limits or something on the Compac, and work on the L-board for two-chip base Amita testing. Or I might just sit around and talk about awesome stuff with Novak all day. Who knows.

15+ years ago was considering the same (Alaska Wyoming). Ruled out Alaska as there are advantages to being in CONUS. Wyoming was beautiful, just couldn't seem to find the right chunk of ground. Settled on Northern MN. Good compromise. Brutal winters, pleasant summers, great fishing and hunting, land was less expensive, reasonable distance to VA medical facilities, UPS hub is 42 miles away, etc.

Don't think you need to apologize for taking a weekend off, not like your under contract with a delivery date cast in concrete. But appreciate the update.
