The business plan calls for investment crowdfunding approximately every 1 to 1.5 years, until the final product release.  So there will be one+ more after this one too.  There are a set amount of AMPs set aside just for this.

Part of the reasoning behind this, is that small tech start-ups that get many millions of dollars thrown at them too soon actually have a harder time making it than a more sustainable, long term approach.  We know we have to work over a period of time, growing the whole way.  This makes early spending decisions more responsible, less wasteful, and result in better flexibility.

Only a small fraction of the total AMPs are in circulation now, and these tokens will not gain their full value until they are being used on the network.  Many more AMPs will need to enter the Attention Economy of Synereo.  Also in the crowdsale, people will be able to buy equity in the underlying technology firm, as a process of financial decentralization.

Where did the $3.2M in investment come from? Was it being raised from angel investors and VCs independently from the AMP tokens in return for equity?

Are there further plans to raise money from VCs and angel investors?

That invested money was to support the open source tech that existed prior to Synereo existing.  No equity or AMP connection there.
That information is meant to convey the depth of value behind the technology that Greg Meredith brings to the table.

Both!  The Alpha is definitely a test-net style process, where we will work with our users very closely to work out problems, listen for ideas, make improvements, and verify our methods before bringing smart contracts, funded DAOs or DCOs online, etc.

The social app is going to be released, as well as a simple Docker installation allowing anyone to easily stand up a node and connect to the fully decentralized network.

It's going to represent the beginning of the next phase of our operation, with a live network and free participation.

Synereo Alpha will be live to the public coming up in September.  It takes longer to do things right, and on the next level of innovation.

Steem is a better comparison to Reddit.  On Alpha, you will be able to do standard social media app activities, in a decentralized network.

Then we'll start adding more features, based on feedback from users.
