Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

It was obvious from the beginning that this was an interesting experience which one can learn from. Well only if he really wants it. Although I have my doubts that bitcoin can fail on a global scale. We'd all have to stop using it for it to die. I just don't see that happening. Anyhow, continue learning useful stuff!

if bitcoin fails which i doubt it can happen anytime soon, something similar will replace it for sure. something like what IBM was working on. i'm not saying that's the one that will replace bitcoin but if it fails, there will be a replacement.

I have to agree with you on that.... We do not know what we do not have, until we have seen other options.

We know PayPal and most of us have a "Hate it, but have to use it" attitude towards online payment methods.... We use credit cards and we see the flaws in that, but we "have to use it" ......Then came BTC

You quickly learn how easy and secure online shopping can be with BTC, and you start to take control of your own "money"  Grin Grin

Now you start to ask the question ...." Why do other people not see this? " I also learned a lot from BTC other than just the currency value.  Wink

Now you start to ask the question ...." Why do other people not see this? "

Because they don't think about what money is and how it works. As a consequence they don't understand the process of fiat money creation and they don't understand that they are the losers in this process. They don't understand that those who control the money control every aspect of their life.

It's the greatest show on Earth for me at least. Even if it expires, it's still going to be an enormous footnote in history. It's a pisser that so many people have been burnt in the story so far but I've learnt a vast amount from it all.

It is kind of a soap opera on steroids.

If Bitcoin goes on to fail (which is very very unlikely) we can still say that we were entertained and educated.

have it,enjoy it...

It is kind of a soap opera on steroids acid.
FTFY

The knowledge that I have gained has also been very valuable. I now have a MUCH better understanding of the financial system and related matters.

Bitcoin and its blockchain technology will transform the way humans exchange value for eternity ... on this planet and beyond.

This worthwhile old thread faded away too soon, imho.

Reality Check:
Many people have been 'entertained' by the BTC story since 2009.  // Status = Confirmed
BTC will transform the way humans exchange value for eternity ... on this planet and beyond.  // Sci-Fi fans and others who actually believe this  Cheesy = Thank you for the inspiration as we blast towards an uncertain future.  //  Status = TBD

If the Internet fails, we can still say that we were entertained and educated, and then go on with our Internetless lives (which would be effectively impossible).
If that would be the case we will find some alternative way that can helps us to entertain ourselves and learn different things like what he said that it effectively help him to learn on how to manage financial, and of couce us people need to know where we could find a good way to learn without internet.

It is kind of a soap opera on steroids.

A never-ending story.
Will the next few chapters of Bitcoin's great journey be full of endless forks, or is there a way to do something better?

I do not even consider the variant of the bitcoin fading.
But you are absolutely right, bitcoin changed my life not only by increasing capital, but also by acquiring the very valuable knowledge that I received. I did not learn so much at the university how much bitcoin gave me in a few months.

Learning is Great.
Did "We as a community", actually learn anything with lasting value, if we are currently headed for ~2,000 "magic money" forks (crappy alt-coins) off of the original BTC?

We are still being entertained and we are still being educated. Do not give up hope or belief. This is how the forces of evil win, they prey on the weak and brainwash them with their ego and temptations.

Yes bitcoin is not only for us to earn an extra income but also entertained and educated us. Though we are sitting and having our siesta while doing bitcoin still it educated us in a way that it exercises our mind to think deeply but have a sense. It also teaches us on how to manage our time and money so as not to  be wasted and can be use in the near future. It educated us in financially matters and how precious time is.

Bitcoin has surely changed our lives and has taken us very far from what we were before knowing about it. I don't think Bitcoin will ever stop growing. Bitcoin has spread out like wildfire in the past years. From businesses, payments, jobs to ICOs BTC has become the thing which everybody needs. There is no stop to this growth and even if it does stop growing there will be something else that will take it's place. Coins like Ethereum and Ripple are potentially great. ETH has a great technology and a large community and might become the next alternative to BTC.

I've always hated the subject economics ever since high school. I thought, studying it is not that great of a deal since I have no intention of going into the business world. However, bitcoin change that, and my view in economics. Because of it, I began to like it and even tried recalling some of the topics, the Law of Demand and Supply, etc which will be applicable in trading and investing. So, I do agree, that bitcoin did change our lives, and we have been entertained and educated. Though, it's price may be changing, I don't see it ending or even becoming a failure.

I certainly enjoy this as a hobby and it definitely empowered me to read and absorbed knowledge. I've gotten atleast more clever if not smarter because of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I don't believe Bitcoin will die, if it does it will be cool to have most of the Bitcoin in the world.

From when I have started to see loads of Bitcoin adverts on the London Underground I really think that failing is going to be quite a massive task for BTC. It has got to a point where massive investers have started getting involved and investing so I can see it, in the future, taking a dip while it is regulated and once regulation happens it will properly take off.

Dont think that governments are not taking note and preparing to implment blockchain/cryptocurrencies into their systems as they would be stupid not too, and, besides, they wouldn't tell us if they were as it would ruin their chances of getting a grip on the industry.

Although it is highly unlikely for that to happen, I would probably say the same. Bitcoin and the internet has entertained and educated me so far. Bitcoin has changed my life so much; because of bitcoin I became more cautious of my finances. Before, I did not even consider whenever I spend money or make financial decisions. Bitcoin has allowed me to become financially independent. I have learned to become responsible of the decisions that I make and earning is fulfilling and pleasurable but at the same time, is not a joke.
