Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Yeah. There has been many topics like this and people say they use many wallets. So I was just wondering why they use multiple wallets.

Hmm,  I've not noticed.  I will need to wait for some other people to chime in.  Both my wallets do everything I think I could need them to do.

I know right. I only use 2 as well. 1 on my PC and one on my phone, just like you. Thats all I need and I don't see why other people need more than that.

At any one time i will have around 5 different btc wallet apps on my phone and a couple of desktop wallets and this still dosen't include a paper wallet here and there.

I dont have a lot of btc but what i do have is often send between my wallets to test different apps.
I also do this because not only does it spread the risk but lets say you have 0.001btc in 1 wallet and it disapears then you know your phone or computer has been compromised.

There are different options depending on your situation:

Core: if you have the bandwidth and storage capacity to run it. You also support the network by running a node.
Ligthweigth: You don't run the full blockchain, but a "central" chain is used to save bandwidth and storage on your pc. Good if you have a low capacity machine/internet or just don't use bitcoin too often.

Than there are also different types of lightweights, all with their different options and security impelmentations.

I just use paper wallets for storage and my pc wallet /phone wallet just contain my spending cash.  I don't really keep too much in either wallet just in case.

For convenience and security.

E.g. multiple wallets (paper) for long term offline storage, a mobile wallet for easy small payments, and a hardware wallet for secure large payments.

You know its been discussed in some threads but seriously still confused. Well this quote always posted here:

All very good points. Thank you for helping me figure out my main point of why people use so many Bitcoin wallets.

They are using because of some security reason to avoid scamming from our wallet addresses and wallets and But one thing problem to have many address. We can't remember as it is. We have to maintain separate database to have many BTC addresses.

I only use one wallet, the core client. My friend uses a web wallet as he does not want to download all the database.

i use 3, one as a hot wallet and two as a cold storage, the primarely reason for this, is because some time i've expereinced in the past a corruption, and i was near to lost a good amount of coins

so to avoid this i thinked up about having more than one

Just wondering why people use so many Bitcoin wallets.

According to me every of them who have more than one wallet want to try several wallets because first thing is the desire to prove always the new ones put in market. Then to find the difference between those and use the best one (according to everyone). Or maybe even to use two or three for to not have all the bitcoins only in one of those. So if happen something undesirable in one wallet at least remain the coins at the second or even third one. Anyhow may be even someone who have more than one wallet without reasons. So use those only for an unknown reason or only for fun. Just because want to have more than one.

I use multiple wallets because I think it's safer to have some bticoins spread out rather than have it all in 1 wallet, that's for online use of course.
Offline wallet is what I see as a savings account, I don't do anything with those.

People can create multiple bitcoin address if they want anonymity, especially if they have plenty of transactions daily, as one bitcoin address can be traced to another, so it's best to use multiple address at times so that the identity is kept safe, but 100%.

I use 3 main addresses, but both on the same wallet provider service Coinbase, just using it to sort out my coins, the ones I use, the small amounts I receive, and the ones that should not be touched. Smiley I find it useful so that I don't 'invest' too much away, would be better to stash some away into some forbidden chest, like a time capsule to be open when price reaches 1000USD for each BTC!  Grin

Good point! I own 3 different wallet on my mobile phone, coinbase, blockchain, mycellium. All of them i used for small and flexible payment. Why 3 wallet apps? I try to compare between all wallet which one that have more advanatge. that's the reason why.
Never store my bitcoin on hardware wallet but one day i must have one!
