imo squeezing is not in his best interest. he makes more money if he can just keep the price under control.

What I meant is that if pirate is effectively shorting BTC, or enabling his clients to do so. And the rise above 8 would be a sign that he lost control.

What I meant is that if pirate is effectively shorting BTC, or enabling his clients to do so.

He does sell BTC, but he rebuys as quickly as he can.  These is risk to upside moves, but it is limited to a couple hours at most.  His profits come from transaction fees he charges buyers, not from trying to "play the market".
