Ok, bit of an update, edit your .conf's addnode to say

":19846" after the only IP (not sub-domain) in there. I'll release an updated config.bat if you'd like.

is the date mentioned in the OP correct?

The date of the original launch? Yes. Tecoin was launched by a dev who only 2 weeks later, abandoned the coin. I picked it up earlier today.

What is HEAVY1 Algorithm?  ???

It's a new, ASIC-resistant algorithm introduced by Heavycoin.

Ok, for those wanting to create a service for TEC, here's the list of priorities (in order):

  • A Block Explorer
  • A Pool
  • An Exchange
  • Other services

I'm not saying not to put it on an exchange before we have a pool. I'm just listing the things we need, in their respective order. By all means, if you want to make a pool, please do! But, I would love to see a block explorer. I'd like to not make the coin centralized, A.K.A. the initial seed node goes, as does everything else. ALSO, if you want to create a node, let me know. I'll be sure to update the config.bat with the nodes.

Thanks for the early support :)

Whoops. I think I'm officially idiot of the day. It's HEFTY1 - NOT HEAVY1!!! My mistake. I was basing it off HEAVYcoin, TEC's codebase. Sorry!

Actually the codebase is a 1:1 copy of Heavycoin, even with the Voting Algo etc..

So maybe if you want to relaunch it - you might remove all that voting stuff etc ?

I don't know about that. I'm just trying to maintain the coin itself. I'm not here to remove previous features. Only add.

Hmm okay.. Problem with the first launch was also, that the dev did not remove the premine code, so they received a precious premine (same as heavycoin devs)... That probably also holds some people off from mining/investing.. Just sayin'

I'll leave the pool running, we'll see how it goes, you can add it to the OP if you wish.

I mean, that's the problem. I'm literally only putting the coin on my server, and fixing things up. NOT removing any of the mess he made. The other thing is, I'm not expecting the coin to have a massive value. I legitimately don't expect it to become the next Bitcoin/Litecoin. I do hope it will succeed when it comes to community support. I'm only saying this because even if he decides to come back (which I doubt, he completely shut down the servers), dumps all of his coins (IF he still has them) and ruins the price for a period of time, he's not going to completely destroy a $100 coin.

I know the question arises "So, you don't have faith in the coin?!" Yes. I do. But, I'm not going to say something I know won't happen. I know the coin has a good potential, and I believe it has the possibility to succeed. I'm not in control of any of this, though. That's up to investors of both money and time.

Please stop using suprnova for the time being. There is an issue with the blocks being ahead of the network. There is still 1 person on the pool mining. You're essentially mining voided coins.

Wallet's fine. Only the pool is down. Also, if you're having trouble connecting, make sure you set the addnode with the IP to have the port of 19846 in your tecoin.conf file.

From the pool to send coin purse is no problem, also cannot use?

You will not be able to withdraw from the pool. You can use your own personal wallet, though. When the pool gets fixed, then you'll be able to withdraw from it.

I now mining the coins in the pool can be paid to wallet, is this normal?

Ok, so. I've been in contact with Tecoin-dev (the original developer). He said he currently doesn't have time to maintain the coin. He is glad the coin didn't completely die, though. I'll keep you posted!

Also, currently, we desperately need a Block Explorer. I've been trying to work on one, but, it's being a bit buggy. I'll also keep you updated on this, too!

Speaking of which...  Noticed this revived thread yesterday.  Noticed the net hash-rate at about 10 Mh/s and jumped right in, after I checked to see if the blockchain was working of course.  So yeah, could use some hashers?

Mining.  I got the best results by far, no contest, with kernels compiled with the latest 14.12 and 15.3 files.  Worksize was a biggie.  Best with 256 and -g 2.  With those I got a solid 18 Mh/s on my R9-290 at stock settings of 980/1250.  The 7950 though is another story.  Oh the hash rate is there, in a big way.  Problem is, even on it's lightest settings it runs like a thing that is running way faster than it should.  It'll hit 12 Mh/s and then the VRM temps keep climbing.  It doesn't have the volt-mod on it right now but regardless, stresses it something fierce.  Since I'm back to this algo I'll have to go over it again, power settings and the like, but if anyone else has some knowledge of this algo, settings, etc etc, could use it.  Thanks.

I'm not too sure, but, search Heavycoin Settings for the 290. I have a 280x and it gets around 11 Mh/s. I think my intensity is about 12 or so. So, yeah.

Well I just had a big fat "D'oh!" moment.  Nice of them to totally change the intensity settings on that version of CGminer.  Dynamic adjustment, kills 2'nd threads, intensity with minus settings, how could I have missed that.

Dropped the volts a bit on that card and man, what a difference, far more than you'd expect, non-linear in fact.  Check the before and after.  Going from 1.25V to 0.988.

From 115 watts down to a mere 62.  Now hashing comfortably at a more respectable 12.35 on the 7950 and 19.11 on the 290.  Both at stock.  Not pushing it with this one because hey, sometimes it's better to walk, not run.  Best cover of The Ventures "Walk Don't Run" you ask?  Why it's by the Pink Fairies of course!  Yet another British band who picked their name just to get into fights.  From the album 'What a Bunch of Sweeties'. Hmm, ok. I've been trying to use Bitcoin-abe. Let's try this.

We need a Block Explorer! I know I said I'm not offering any bounties, but, here you go: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1015834.0

Will be much easier than Abe to get up and running and shouldn't require you to make any changes to the codebase (which Abe probably needs for Tec support). I can help setting it up for you but I'm unable to provide any hosting.

That's fine. I could put it on one of my servers, so, you're not going to need to anyway!

If I remember right, isn't this the CGMiner version right before they removed support for SHA256 coins?

No idea, but I do believe 3.7.3 is the last version with scrypt.  I'm using this fork...

I've really gotta learn Opencl programming sometime.

I'm almost sure there's a version of SGMiner that supports it, but, don't quote me on that!

Alright cool. I've done the settings.json file that needs to be placed in the explorer's root directory, I have changed most of the required settings and added a few comments for what still needs changing. You need to ensure you have started  the daemon with txindex=1 added to tecoin.conf. If you havent already done this then you will need to add it in and then run the wallet with the -reindex command.

If you need help send me a PM.

I'm back and will have a few ideas to discuss with you once I've had a rest-up and got a few things done.  Good to see you've found a bit of hash lying around.  Always good, whatever kind of hash.

Yeah, me again.  I tossed a few bucks on there and have been bouncing a few trades around. Scooping up a few coins and giving the impression establishing a bit of a base-line.  Figured, its there, may as well have one.  I find the crypto scene with it's "pinball score" numbers quite amusing.  Wow!  200,000 something or others!  Um... It's a dime.

Anyways, gonna use the last of my consciousness tonight on a few thoughts.  Coinage... Really?  Not yet by a long shot.  Can't buy a beer at the local with the biggest and the best, Bitcoin, so what does it say about all these... things, for that's what I'll call them.  The only reason we think of this 'thing' as coin is because the first one was, and all the others are, but what is it really and what can we do with it?  I'm quite good at re-purposing things.  Seeing them for what they are and finding ways to use them.  Example... I've stripped down dozens of VCR's because their motors have almost friction-less bearings, and they're great for things like swivel mounts for monitors, or the base for my motorized telescope mount.  That's just the start.  You should really see my place, because it's fairly mad.  I live in the upstairs of a renovated barn, so there's no vertical walls.  High ceilings means space for mounting things, second floor door features a drawbridge to the deck, with a trap-door in it to haul wood up.  And so on.  So let's look at what this "thing' is, the block-chain, list its core properties and really THINK about what can be done with it.  Because unless I can grab a beer at the local with it, it sure ain't coinage.

How do you deal with your lions and dragons?  I nail mine to the ceiling. (http://s633.photobucket.com/user/acatphoto/media/Home/Bedroom01s.jpg.html?sort=4&o=9)

Uh... ok. From what I can understand, you're talking about the usefulness - or lack of - of Bitcoin and alts. I'd love to see the coins have mass-adoption. But, for now...

Exactly.  So what else can it be?  Can we make a game of it?  I know that sitting here trying to just crowbar the latest Killer App out of of our brains isn't easy, but perhaps if we start with most basic properties we can see something new.  I originally got into crypto because I saw Dogecoin poising itself to be a social media tipping platform, and thus a way to earn micro-payments on my photography.  Is there some way it could be made to be more friendly with that environment?  Unfortunately it has been a VERY long time since I've done any coding.  How long?  Well, the last full application I wrote was in Autocad Lisp... on Acad 12... the first Windows version of Autocad.  I somehow don't think that my fluency in 6502 machine language is going to be helpful.

On a side-note I just gotta say... working in a 64K environment teaches you to be TIGHT!!!  I look at ANY wallet software and wonder why it isn't under 16K.  I look at any software and wonder why it isn't a fraction of the size.  I blame it all on these newfangled MULT and DIV op-codes.  Made kids Lazy and it's been downhill ever since!  Raggafragginsagafragin...

So. There comes a time in every coin's life where it thinks to itself "does anyone really care about me?" Answer: no. We'll see how people react to this. I might just scrap the whole "take over Tecoin" thing, and just go work on a brand new coin (I don't it was too good of an idea taking over a coin that had no interest whatsoever). Server comes due on Monday, and I don't think I'm going to renew it. Let's face it: there's been little to no interest in Tecoin over the past few weeks.

I'd like to create something that's actually unique. Not something that's basically a complete clone of Heavycoin. I know I'm going to get a shitton of hate for letting Tecoin die, which my soul purpose was to NOT let it die, but, all good things must end.

What will I be doing? Well, I'll be working on the new coin for the next couple weeks. That's basically it. Like I've said in the past, I love developing things. Just not taking over development. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I'm still here.

What should you do, now? Sell your coins. That's basically it.

Sorry to  be so late about this but health and work tied me up and pinned me down.  Still a little out of it but that could be a good thing, for ideas, maybe.  Because thunk I have!  I was thinking and thinking, and then I thinked some more until I was all thunked out.  But I believe I just might have thunk an idea or two, maybe.

I got into crypto because I saw in it the perfect vehicle for selling, or rather capitalizing on my photography.  I figured by now tipping apps on Flickr and 500px would be feeding me a stream of nickels and dimes, fractions of pennies.  Unfortunately...

So what I thought about was ingredients, not the recipe.  What if the pictures are part of the blockchain somehow, and mining gets keys for decrypting the pictures.  As an artist, one of the hardest things to do is to put a number value, a price on some work.  Really, I find it excruciating.  Is there some way this can be foisted off on the buyers/viewers?  Sorry, but I don't have much more than a yearning to get my stuff out there, to turn this into a distribution system somehow.

I guess I should show off a bit of my stuff eh?

With regards to the coin, I doubt anything will ever come of Tecoin.
