SatoshiDice (https://satoshidice.com/dice) is now under new ownership with instant deposits and withdrawals, on our new provably fair system.

For now, please play with confidence on our provably fair site:

Its a great site but I think that you should update the design for satoshicircle to what satoshislot and satoshidice look like. Satoshicircle its just a bit of theming with a bootstrap framework, it could be improved a lot.

Wasn't Satoshi - Dice sold to a third party because the original owner was no longer able to manage it ?

Great news.

But some of other sites offering %90, not %50 return.

Great news.

But some of other sites offering %90, not %50 return.

Most sites offer 90% of 1%

We offer 50% of 1.9%, resulting in a higher return per bet placed by players.

I am shocked at this, the guy registered before 4 days and won 4000+ BTC  ???

http://s24.postimg.org/wrgq0e7np/Screenshot_5.png

interesting.. the guy goes by "gambling ruined my life" yet he won 4k BTC. Wonder how much hes up or down to be making a username like that.

That "Total Won" figure is very misleading IMO. It doesn't measure your net profit but your gross profit.
So the person won 4k btc in all his winning bets, but we have no idea how much he lost in his losing bets.

This is indeed the total gross winnings, losses not counted. We have updated the page to be more clear about this.

Thanks for clearing it out. I was also confused about it

If you invest do you get returns or loses proportional to the amount you invested? Also what is the minimum investment amount in case I want to test it out? Last question what is the current bank roll?

Pretty sure it works like this
If you own 1% of the bankroll you get 1% of the profit.
So if you have 1 btc, the site makes 100 btc profit, you get 1% of that which is 1btc so you now have 2 btc.
And the bankroll is very large right now over 4k I think

Answers to your 3 questions can be found in the "invest" page.

If your have contributed to X % of bankroll, and the gamblers lose Y bitcoin, you will earn Y * 50% * X%.
Minimum investment is 0.001 btc, and total investments by players is 549 btc.

Yes, Erik Voorhes sold satoshidice to the current owner, this OP, with the price is over 120000BTC

"On 18 July 2013, Erik Voorhees announced that SatoshiDice had been sold for 126,315 BTC, or US$12.4 million at the time of the announcement"    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SatoshiDice

This OP is extremely rich and bought this extremely overpriced dice site. I think SD's real value was less than 10k btc, but OP costed 120K btc to acquire this site.

I am afraid they won't get the principal back in 10 years.(1 year need at least 12k BTC pure profit, I think only primedice can achieve this huge profit)

I guess my idea of investing 0.1 would not count for much then. Then again now that I think about it even if I make a little it is better than nothing. I'll think about investing if I do I'll post about how it is going or went.

In investing in a gambling sites, you cant actually give a review in a short term, you can post about how is it going is a short term because investing in a gambling sites is more to a long term investment, your investment profit could be in positive or minus depending on the players, if players lose a lot , you might get a few profit even with 0.1 bitcoin

If you look at the last 10 day stats on for example dicesites.com and compare, you'd see that you'd get a higher return on Satoshi Dice, but it depends on how much players play after you invest, and if they win or lose.

Bonuses, giveaways, affiliate earnings leader board prizes etc come from our own pocket. Investors benefit the most from this because it basically gives players more balance to bet and all bets benefit investors with more total EV.

My English is not good so I just want to know how much I can earn everyday If I invest 2 BTC ? Thanks !

It depends on many factors like how much action there is on the site and how much other investors put it. Your expected profit per bet is 0.0095*Your Investment/Total Amount Invested. But if players are luckier than usual, you investment will actually shrink.

So does that mean that you can actually lose your investment? If some whale comes around and wins some coins will you lose your investment?

They stated earlier that you can never lose all of your investment, it will just decrease in value like all investments. There is some risk to this but it is better than gambling as you have a 51% chance to earn money on each bet.

Seems like Satoshi Dice give bad terms for the investors and the dicers. Most dicesites have 1% egde or less and 90% of profit to investors.
And i not see any site wager stat or how big total bankroll is. So how can someone invest without getting information?

easier words to actually understant this is that each time you invest, you support some percentage of the bankroll

if the site got 100 BTC bankroll and you put in 1 BTC in it, you actually support 1 % of your bankroll, so everytime the sites get profit or loss, you will gain 1% of the amount (using standard kelly)

So unless the sites bankroll goes down to 0 BTC which is likely wont be possible, you wouldnt lose all your investment

Why would you add an invest option?

You bought the site for 126,315 BTC ($11.5 Million) from erik voorhees.

To add an invest option that has "only" 646 Bitcoin ($166k) invested seems a bit odd.

Seems like you should be in the position to bankroll the site yourself and would have a far better chance of making profit back on the original purchase no?

Is Stunna right that Satoshi Dice is under different ownership than the people who purchased from Erik?

The max win is 1% of the bankroll. If lots of players win, the max win will decrease so the bankroll can't completely disappear. In theory an investor with a high percent of a small bankroll can lose a lot of his percentage if the bankroll takes a hit and then new investors invest larger amounts.

I just changed this to "Current Bankroll". This is the session game bankroll that investors compete with. Example: "Current Bankroll" says 400 and you invest 100. Your part of the bankroll will then be 100/500 = 20%.

It appears to be a connectivity issue to the API. We are trying to find out the issue. A quick workaround might be to browse the site in a device that uses another internet connection. Sorry about the trouble!

I am not sure if we talking about the same problem now. I explain my issue in the mail I sent to your support (at) satoshidice.com. I include my account and User id information there. If you can speed up the resolution then I will be happy.

Edit - yes I understand now. When I log in from another computer I can see my correct ballance.

Thank you

PS: I would anyway preffer to be contacted by support with at least information they are working on my request.

We are double checking too see exactly what happened and will get back to you asap!

I still can't find any trace of signed cold wallet, while you claim to have some kind of multi sig cold storage in place (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.msg11014694#msg11014694).

care to share this finally to prove your solvency?

There is no use emailing them. A few months ago, I send a few emails. Well, never replied yet.  :-\
Well, it is fixed now. So, np.
Just post on the thread or PM him. It is more likely to be responded.

I have invested in the bankroll. Can you sign the cold wallet address please? It will at least help people to trust the site.

Thanks :)

We can't reveal it immediately because transactions can take hours to confirm and during this time a player could double spend their losing bets!

is this place better then just-dice to invest?

They are both well established sites but keep in mind that Just-Dice requires you to use CLAMs rather than BTC. Hence you might see the value of your investment drop BTC-wise even if the dice site managed to turn a profit.

So how long do you wait until you display them? Also it seems to me that even now it does not happen automatically.

Investing in just-dice is not good idea in my opinion, we have to buy clams then invest in jd if clams loses it value your investment will drop a lot.

Now there's 700 in the public cold storage. There's also the hot wallets and transaction wallets, but we will only make a cold storage that matches current investments public. This is to prove that we can pay out current investments if investors wish to withdraw them. The bankroll displayed for the session game is only from investors.

To large investors: we're creating a new cold storage and will not hold all your deposit in the hot wallet. Please PM us here or send an email if you wish to withdraw big. We will also be notified automatically if there's a large withdraw and will fill the hotwallet if needed.

Signatures check out ok!

And also the your API is pretty cool, maybe even too powerful. People could use it to power a tumbler service, fake investment scheme or even a fake web wallet/ponzi type site.

The hot wallet is now filled up again after being emptied by investor withdrawals and a lucky highroller. We're updating the statistics for yesterday. This self moderated thread will be cleaned up a bit, please don't take offence if your post turn out to be deleted in a little while. We have no intention to hide anything but large nonsensical posts in incoherent language will help noone.

I'm not saying you guys aren't worthy of trust but I think you should clarify the ownership of the website.

From my understanding & conversation with insiders, SD has been sold/shifted ownership more than one time. Is your group the one that purchased the site directly from Erik Voorhees? I only ask this due to the above posts using that assumption as a basis of trust. Looking forward to some clarification.

Also, solid work with the new site.

Yes, you are right that there needs to be luck too. It's still gambling related investment. I am sure that there were high rollers in time I put Bitcoins there. You can see your actual investment and profit all time. And it went down and up. But there is a House edge and this works well. Even high rollers will lost some day.

Great news.

But some of other sites offering %90, not %50 return.

Most sites offer 90% of 1%

We offer 50% of 1.9%, resulting in a higher return per bet placed by players.

ok it's not as bad as it looked like from the beginning, its really good actually.

About 3-4 hours usually. I was gambling last day and caught up in a maintenance, but it resolved in less than 3 hours.

After all sometimes its ok to take a break from gambling for 3 hour, go out walking or something, then come back and play again :D

It should not happen, but we are not in perfect word. Take it as part of gambling and do no take it too serious. Problems are solved, but it need some time. My experience is couple of hours there.

You should put your affiliate link in your signature and get many referrals because they pay 10% comission of the house edge on their bets (regardless if they lose or win).

That is a very good promo in my opinion :D:D

I had clams lying around doing nothing anyway, might as well invest them in JD, but i still need a site to invest my BC, and it seems this is the only option available right now.

PRCdice turned me a reasonable profit, but they dont allow investing anymore.

not only the only option it's a good option in my opinion

After a day I can confirm, made about 0.2% on my first day, not bad at all.

And since it has been around for so long it's a pretty trustworthy site I think.

It's a bit slow though, so I don't leave it open because it sometimes freezes my browser.

We have now integrated Satoshi Slot directly into satoshidice.com and the game uses the dice wallet system that is scalable so spins will no longer lag. Anyone having funds on satoshislot.com should withdraw and use their satoshidice balance instead.

Bets and wins on the Satoshi Slot game affect the bankroll and investor's balances in the same way as normal dice rolls.

Withdrawals to multi sig addresses now works and I have tried it successfully.

Bets made to the block chain game from multisig addresses are currently not processed. The blockchain game is currently depreciated until we rewrite the code for it.

As you can see in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.msg11528097#msg11528097, it is an old problem and apparently SD hasn't fixed it yet. In the meantime, use an address starting with 1 to withdraw your bitcoin.

Ok now i know, guess it was a gamble if it worked or not, seems like they have fixed the error now. Good job!

Absolutely a great dice site. I will try it when I'll have some free time. I will write a review here when I'll be able to do this :)

hi I deposited .02 and then the page stopped loading upon reload all my info was gone and of course the btc is gone too. I emailed support@satoshidice.com and no one has replied, this is very unprofessional.

Did you reload the same unique link? Every SatoshiDice user has a unique link for their SatoshiDice homepage in order to access their account, if you don't access the same link as what you accessed when you deposited, you will not be able to access your BTC.

Also how can I activate 2 factor auth?
Do you plan to add a chat?

Is there some form of maintenance or performance testing going on, I've seen the same 3 or 4 betters for the past 12 hours and I haven't been able to bet anything. Deposit addresses were gone at first, but are now available, and I am still unable to do anything.

Been unable to bet or withdraw from bank roll for two days now. I either want my bitcoin or would like to gamble/invest it in the bankroll. I see other people gambling, but have been unable to gamble on my two accounts and any freshly made accounts.

Also, just a heads up, I'm receiving relatively suspicious messages from a btctalk account claiming to be SatoshiDice support. They're are going under the handle of "SatDiceTechnicalSupport" and are claiming that the customer support manager is having health issues.

I have told them of my issues regarding betting, withdrawing, and investing in the bank roll, and despite me mentioning nothing about deposit troubles, they are attempting to get me to deposit funds to a singular fresh BTC address with no transactions and are also claiming I will receive a 10% bonus for doing so, but they apparently cannot supply the bonus to funds already in a SatoshiDice wallet.

I was also talking about 3 separate Satoshi Dice accounts, and was not given 3 deposit addresses, any way to deposit to three separate accounts, or to differentiate deposits to the same address from each other. I have done no such thing and have no intention to, but just a heads up to anyone else that gets PM'd, beware, this is obviously incredibly fishy, and I shall await any verification from known SatoshiDice support channels before performing any actions.

That certainly sounds like a scamming attempt. There should be a "Report To Admin" button at the bottom right corner of the PM, please click it and report the PM. Hopefully an admin/global mod could ban the account before someone falls victim to it.

Still no update on missing deposits, no reply to an email sent and the funds have been transferred through the blockchain.

Simply put: Someone is actively moving out the funds while refusing to solve the issues of deposits dissapearing the same instant the transaction gets confirmed by the blockchain.

Update: Issue has been Solved, SatoshiDice has refunded my original deposit and a compensation for things going wrong when the deposit disappeared

Take your time to read , the site seems to have some issue with some players that have their balance gone after deposits were made. However satoshidice denied it has anything to do with their system and said that the players has initiated the withdrawal themselves

After exchanging a few messages over the past days with Satoshi Dice support, they've concluded that there have been wallet sync issues. I'm still experiencing issues on one account, but was credited .05 on a freshly synced account, and the support was very helpful, albeit a little slow in responding to issues. I don't believe there's any scams going on here, you guys need to stop jumping on the "scamwagon" every time there's an issue. SD has been running fine for 3 years, and they obviously turn considerable profit, why would they give that up?

but I hope you must renew your team site, because I think the theme is now less attractive.

Hi I have only just found out about the site and have just read through the thread and am set on the idea of making a small investment and seeing how it goes, and if I am regularly able to withdraw without hassle, then maybe making a larger investment.

Can someone answer one question for me though? If I invest, is there any point in also playing the game? I understand that I would be gambling against myself (or more correctly, gambling against myself+a lot of other people). Would this have the effect of cancelling out my winnings/losings, thus rendering it a waste of time? Or would it effectively hedge my bets, offering me a safer, but lower rate of return?

So ... are people who are investing this generally seeing a return?
I put in a couple of BTC a few days ago and have just been sitting here watching my balance going down, very very slowly.
I guess this means a lot of people are beating the house?
So this kind of feels like it has all the bad bits of gambling (losing money) and none of the actual fun (playing a game), lol.

Interested to hear if anyone can let me know how much they have made/lost over the med or long term, as an investor.

When you zoom out the "Total profit" graph on https://dicesites.com/satoshidice, you can see a clear upward trend. When you zoom in the graph, you will see many short-term ups and downs. I haven't invested in SD but in some other sites, but the nature is pretty much the same.

This decision was made on the basis of extensive legal counsel. The best way to limit legal risk for SatoshiDice, and thereby protect its stakeholders, is to block US players.

Note that this decision does not mean that online gambling is illegal in the US, nor does it mean that Bitcoin gaming is illegal. However, the courts have not been clear on the definition of gambling, nor on what would constitute “legitimate gaming,” nor are jurisdictions properly defined, and thus this is a proactive measure to protect those involved in the project.

Further, this decision is not being made because of any citation or notice from any government agency, whatsoever. This is not, in any way, related to the recent Gox/Dwolla court order issue. Again, it is a proactive measure, based on the prudent legal guidance of our trusted lawyers.

We believe this is a wise move for the site to perpetuate in the long term.

Further, to clarify, SatoshiDice is hosted in Switzerland and has never utilized US currency or engaged with the US banking system whatsoever.

At the time of writing, there's 1000+ coins in profit for investors. The biggest investor currently has 287.89908571 BTC in profit, so there's definitely money to be made.

It would cancel out winnings at the percentage you have of the investment. If you invest 5000 BTC, you'd get roughly 50% of the bankroll. If you then roll and win 100, your investment would go down by 50. If you on the other hand lose 100, your investment would go up 50 and you'd also be charged 25 in commission if divesting and withdrawing.

If you invest 100, you'd only get about 2% of the bankroll, and roll until losing 100, it would give you 2 coins to your investment and charge 1 coin in commission. Winning 100 would make your investment lose 2 coins.

Why is there only 2000 BTC in cold storage suddenly from 4500? that's much less trust/confidence in the existence/security of stated funds then before; less then half of the bank to be shown is very little assurance. I just checked the balances on those 2 addressess and they add up to about 4300, so it's there, but on the site it says each has about 1000, leading one to believe a priori that only about 2000BTC are in those 2 cold storage addresses, so I'd fix this and display on the website the 3000 of that first one instead of 1000 if I were you and wanted to attract investors.

I still take issue with the following about lack of 2FA:

speaking of security, why haven't you got an optional 2FA security for users? unless you consider the password the 2nd factor, and the url the 1st? not nearly the same level of security as an OTP accessible from ones smartphone, like google authenticator IE.

please introduce 2FA ASAP, and increase the cold storage (at least 3/4 or so); until then I don't feel safe to put my money on something with so little assurance and security.

I also noticed that some of the numbers on the section "How Investor's Percentages of the Bankroll Are Determined" are wrong.

"The original investor's 15 coins now make up 75% and the new investor's 5 coins make up 25% of the total bankroll. If now another 10 coins are lost by players, the first investor gets 7.5 coins and the second investor gets 22.5 2.5 coins, bringing their investments up to 22.5 and 7.7 7.5 coins"

and one clarification, the stated "house profit" is the investor profit right? the expected 0.95% of wagered BTC; not the total casino profit expected house edge of 1.9% correct?

another thing, on the "Potential Risks for Investors"

in the last part you should also include the risk of the operators of satoshidice playing as  a player but having access to the server seed know in advance what the outcome will be thus can win every bet, thus scamming money from investors. unless you found some solution to this problem of the current implementation of provably fair.

lastly, I still can't access users pages, stats pages, new user, and others; is this still from the ddos?

Why is there only 2000 BTC in cold storage suddenly from 4500? that's much less trust/confidence in the existence/security of stated funds then before; less then half of the bank to be shown is very little assurance. I just checked the balances on those 2 addressess and they add up to about 4300, so it's there, but on the site it says each has about 1000, leading one to believe a priori that only about 2000BTC are in those 2 cold storage addresses, so I'd fix this and display on the website the 3000 of that first one instead of 1000 if I were you and wanted to attract investors.
I have fixed this. The text is currently static and needs to be updated every now and then.

Yes, we're implementing this.

You are correct, I have updated the text!

and one clarification, the stated "house profit" is the investor profit right? the expected 0.95% of wagered BTC; not the total casino profit expected house edge of 1.9% correct?
"House profit" is profit taken from bets minus wins (1.9% edge). So the amount being paid to investor's is half of this (can be considered 0.95% edge)

another thing, on the "Potential Risks for Investors"

in the last part you should also include the risk of the operators of satoshidice playing as  a player but having access to the server seed know in advance what the outcome will be thus can win every bet, thus scamming money from investors. unless you found some solution to this problem of the current implementation of provably fair.
Yes, this is true. I added it. The same applies if there's unauthorised access to the server and someone can create winning bets.

lastly, I still can't access users pages, stats pages, new user, and others; is this still from the ddos?
Yes, we're still under a heavy DDoS attack, but it's under control thanks to hardware DDoS protection. We're still tweaking the DDoS protection rules and believe the attacker runs completely out of variations soon. We expect user profile pages to be enabled today.

Could you not automatically ban IPs that are connecting with a secret key that leads to an account with any amount of btc in it? I think is perfectly reasonable to assume that people trying to access their own bitcoins are not the ones behind the ddos.

thanks for the updates.

(just a note, the text still says 7.7 whereas it should say 7.5)

regarding:

"House profit" is profit taken from bets minus wins (1.9% edge). So the amount being paid to investor's is half of this (can be considered 0.95% edge)

that means the house profit is quite alot lower then I would expect. according to my calculations this means there is only an effective house profit of about 1.13% instead of the expected 1.9% (it's about 60% of 1.9%). I know variance, but after more then 255'000'000 bets this is extremely low! the standard deviation after this many bets with the average bet of 0.0008btc is only 12.669btc; yet the current deviation is of 1556btc; that is 123 deviations! that odds of that are practically zero. so either a lot of people are betting big and when in the positive never betting again thus taking a significant portion of expected profits away, or something more fishy is going like the possibility I mentioned of someone with access to the server seed making sure-winning bets.  it's just because as an investor this means the annual rate of return has been about 18% instead of the expected 33% that would come from a 1.9% (0.95% for the investor) house profit. for such a risky investment as this, 18% doesn't seem all that much, whereas 33% would seem more appropriate.

my calculations were as follows:

total wagered=total won+total loss=total won + (total won + profit)= ~202342
effective house edge=effective profit/total wagered=~1.13%
average bet=total wagered/number of bets=~0.0008
standard deviation=2*averagebet*sqrt(#bets*probability of winning*probability of losing)=~12.669btc
current deviation=expected profit-effective profit=(total wagered*1.9%)-2288=1556btc

care to comment/explain or check my calculations/logic? how does something that a priori has a practically infinitesimal probability of occurring (123 standard deviations) occur? can big players that stop betting altogether after being in the positive really account for such a huge deviation? if so, I would like to understand how, why or some source, cause to me that seems extremely unlikely given what is known of gamblers and casinos.

Yes this makes sense, but I'm not sure we can configure the DDoS protection to do this very easily. We're getting some false positives but are working on it.

Average bet size doesn't really say much because one highroller betting 20 coins amounts to 20,000,000 minimum size bets, and those min bets are by far the most common amount. I think you are trying to make a too complicated formula. Profit has actually been higher than expected value and the bigger the biggest bets are, the bigger likelihood of the actual profit differing from the EV. For expected profit just put total bet amount x 0.019... Total wagered is available in the global stats API call. Dicesites.com has great presentation of the stats.

ah, yes. I see that now.

Profit has actually been higher than expected value and the bigger the biggest bets are, the bigger likelihood of the actual profit differing from the EV. For expected profit just put total bet amount x 0.019... Total wagered is available in the global stats API call.

the total wagered from that dicesites.com is clearly wrong given it is little more then the amount won (they apparently show total won + profit; it ignores the total amount that was bet and lost (except for the profit)) (plus it shows the data available on your site that starts in 5/11/14, yet gives the start date of 18/04/12; which from an investor POV is deceivingly very unflattering; it would make one think that the wagered and profit of the last year and 3 months was actually spread out over the life time of the site; and thus RoI per year would be much less (roughly 1/3)).

the total wagered can easily be calculated from 2 stats on your site, total won and profit: as I explained before, "total wagered=total won+total loss=total won + (total won + profit)= ~202342" (currently is about 203518);   this is because obviously total wagered is total won + total lost (there are no ties correct?) and total lost is equal to the amount that was won plus the profit cause that's the only way the profit could be what it is. you understand this, yes?

thus: total bet amount x 0.019 is 3866.842. 1586  less then the actual profit of 2280, like I said actual profit is about 60%(59%) of expected.

anyway, maybe this is perfectly reasonable variance IDK; although if I were you as a casino I would like to know what the variance and standard deviation is for the games on my casino.

Where do you get the total loss from? Of the total wagered, some rolls win and some lose. From what has been wagered, 0.019 is expected to be taken off from bet payouts as profit. We provide the total wagered amount and house edge is accomplished by taking a sum off winning rolls' payout.

Payout: ( betAmount * (65535+1) / numberToRollUnder ) * ( 100 - 1.9 )

Total bet amount as seen in the API: 104469.02610966

104469.02610966 * 0.019 = Expected house profit = 1984.911

Actual profit: bets 104469.02610966 - wins 102119.66460453 = 2349.36150513

From the house's perspective, the EV is the same no matter the bet size, but players can place more bets with low probability before running out because profit is taken from payouts and if payouts occur less often, it takes longer for the player to run out of funds (on average).

I also see that the current stats include (or ignore) slot game rounds as session game rounds. EV on those is slightly higher for the house, and they are credited to investors. I will make the global stats API call give more data about this.

Dooglus probably knows how much JD investments were at the peak. It's possible to see in this JD blog: http://just-dice.blogspot.com/2014/06/investment-amounts-22-june-2014.html

Seems last BTC investment amount on JD before they stopped was when Bitcoin was worth around $600 22 June 2014.

Investor amounts according to that blog mentioned above = 53279.64519176

53279.64519176 * 600 = 31,967,787 USD

INVEST IN THE SATOSHI DICE BANKROLL

You have the opportunity to be part of Satoshi Dice's bankroll. The bankroll is the total of all investments into the site and you are paid according to your percentage of the house's bankroll. Satoshi Dice uses a 1.9% house edge and investors get 50% of the house wins or losses. This means a 0.95% Expected Value (EV) that is shared by the investors. Affiliate earnings, Leader Board rewards and other rewards are not paid by the investors, and there are no additional investor fees.

HOW INVESTOR'S PERCENTAGES OF THE BANKROLL ARE DETERMINED

If the first investor deposits 10 bitcoins, he has 100% of the bankroll, and earns 1.9/2=0.95% of all earnings. Now suppose that players lose 10 coins while playing on the site. 50% of this is rewarded to the investors, and since there is only one investor he gets 5 coins added to his investment. The house's bankroll is now 15. Now another player invests another 5 coins, bringing the bankroll to 20. The original investor's 15 coins now make up 75% and the new investor's 5 coins make up 25% of the total bankroll. If now another 10 coins are lost by players, the first investor gets 7.5 coins and the second investor gets 22.5 coins, bringing their investments up to 22.5 and 7.7 coins respectively. At this stage, the first investor can withdraw his 22.5 bitcoins with a 12.5 profit and this would bring the second investor's percentage of the bankroll from 25% to 100%.

Satoshi Dice keeps the maximum profit a player can make on a bet to 1% of the bankroll (employing a 0.5263 Kelly criterion). This means that if the house loses money to lucky players, the maximum allowed profit made on new bets will shrink. If we assume that the players try to play with the highest possible EV, they will try to always place bets that has the maximum allowed profit when winning. If the same bet volume is maintained by bets with a lower maximum profit, it would have to be accomplished by a larger number of bets. This would increase the EV for the house because each single bet has a 1.019 EV for the house. The automatic adjustments of the maximum allowed bet profit also makes it impossible for players to win the entire bankroll.

Yes, the whois records are private but found Eric Voorhees as the owner of one of the server's ip address.

Looking up his name, he owns Shapeshift.io and "Partiality owned" Satoshidice.

  • You can invest an be part of the bankroll, investors earn with a 0.95% edge.

Does this mean that if you invest you will likely loose 0.05% of what you invested?  I hope that isn't right because that is an awfully lousy ROI.  There would be no point in investing if you are only going to loose money.  Can anyone clear this up?

it means as an investor you have 0.95% stake against each bet a user places.

Satoshidice also has the same.

Ya you are right . your stake is 0.95% , for every bet .. if the bet wins . you loose 0.95% of that , if bet looses , you get 0.95% of that winning bet .

Can anyone tell me whats the minimum here to invest?

I am very glad that you have a bankroll with very large current and I hope you are not tempted to do with the amount of things that can ruin your reputation and I hope you always keep an eye on every transaction in your site so that someone who wants to ruin your reputation can't do the news slant.

It means the house edge is 1.95%, investors get paid .95% of the 1.95%, the house takes the other 1.0%

Satoshi Dice is updating to a new version of the website any time now. Investing features will be rebranded to "betting on the house bankroll", as this is what the backers (previously called investors) do.

If the site suddenly gets a new look, fear not, but register with your old secret and fill in the necessary details!

Try to avoid those annoying questions when someone wants to leave your site "do you really want.." This is immature and if you you are professional you must correct this immediately. You can change it to different kind of questions, about feedbacks, this is less annoying.

Satoshidice provides secret URL's which contain a secret key, they ask for you to share it with no one. I didn't share mine with anyone, my browser is relatively secure and i don't use windows. So there is no way anyone else has access to my secret url.

Now the problem is, they are not helping me reset my secondary pass phrase which entered before making the deposit. I haven't changed this password, i'v tried all my known passwords too and none of them work, i get blocked by their firewall after entering 5-6 passwords so i gave up.

I contacted support through email, after a couple of exchanges they asked me for details on where i logged in from and what times i logged in. I explained that i used a VPN, provided some information but couldn't go past the security checks they implemented.

They continued to ask for what times i deposited, i explained it's a stupid thing to ask as all i need to do is look up on the blockchain and that the rest of the information they had been asking is easily findable on my account, that i have access to.

In the end, the support reached a conclusion. They said, i will have to wait for some time so they can confirm no one has access to the account who knows the password for the investment. So i said ok and waited. Weeks past, it's been 2 MONTHS!. i kept emailing them to ask about the status, but they didn't respond. After nagging them on the Bitcointalk thread, i found out they now have a new customer support team.

I emailed the new customer support team (same email & PGP), they answered right away, asked me the same security check questions and i asked them to check the records of our previous conversations and help me with my account. Was told there are no records of the old emails, but after sending them copies of the encrypted messages (and the decrypted versions of them) they stopped replying.

Today the support team finally responded on Bitcointalk with this (after i asked if i'm a fucking ghost to them):
Quote
No but we see recent successful invests and divests in the account you have been referring to, so you must have remembered the original password only a few days ago!

For other people reading this: VarietyBitcoin could not provide any information in order to identify himself as the real account owner and for that reason we could not reset the password. We can verify by signup IP, GEO IP, ISP used or signing a message on an address that was used to deposit to the account in the past.

The new login system will allow password recovery via email and two factor authentication.

You don't need a password to make a successful investment, and * certainly haven't made a divestment*. The balance remains intact on my investment and they now chose to ignore me.

From what i can gather, Erik Voorhees (founder of Shapeshift.io) owns/used to own a fair share of this website. Does anyone how i can find any other information about the owners as it's private and i need to file a police report, it's the only thing i can think of doing other than warning others of them.

They used to be a reliable company, but switched ownership a couple of times. The new owners are incompetent and the support team are assholes.

so you can't verify anything not even IP or Country(?) or even sign a deposit address and don't remember password . What the possibility you are just social engineering and trying to get money out of an account which doesn't belong to you ? Hmm... honestly i can't believe that a site with 2million bankroll would risk its reputation on stealing " " your " "  coins (!) and since most of the users with password problems have got their problem resolved with signing address or at least somehow, it really seems that you are trying to get something out of nothing :)

Hi Satoshi Circle (if this is not the right thread please send me to the right one).

I have been sending a bit of traffic to your site recently. How does the affiliate payout/tracking system work?

I have my bitcoin address put in your system so is it an automatic payout? Or do I need to log in or?

Thanks  :)

site down for me also, why is SD so consistently bad at announcing downtime (if that's what this actually is) ?

If not, perhaps users lost funds, cuz......who knows what's going on right?

Why did no one even question why the site suddenly switch to email / password?
What was wrong with the old method?

At this point SD seems uncommunicative to the point of comedy. I'd take any investment with the house as a big risk until there's evidence to the contrary or new updates explaining:

1. Why the site changed to an email based login

2. Why all the recent downtime and no prior warning of downtime.

Otherwise treat your deposits as disposable assets and don't be surprised if they go missing one day.

Great news.

But some of other sites offering %90, not %50 return.

Most sites offer 90% of 1%

We offer 50% of 1.9%, resulting in a higher return per bet placed by players.

The OP is right. Here's why.

90% of 1% = 0.9%
50& of 1.9% = 0.95%

So satoshi dice should be about 5.5% more then most sites.

I am having the same problem. When I go to log in with the email/password combo (last time I logged in a few weeks ago I converted over from the old log in system), it just loops me to the main page, and I have no way to check on my invested coins.

Someone fix this please!

There was an issue with one of the servers being unable to create sessions properly but this has been fixed so everyone can login/create accounts now!

Hi, this is my first post in  this forum. I have a question for the admin of satoshidice, i had deposited btc to invest in satoshidice and had been making good profit for the last 1 week, had been  montoring it every now and then as it is my first investment. For the last two hours when i checked, there is a sudden loss of -0.00054137 for my 0.06104869 investment, is there any way i can verify this , there is no high roller nor winning streak players for the last 2 hours , the same record big win cracker08063 has been there for many days. my id is gy76pp.

Losing faith in the investment....

Please advise

Just want to mention here that we've been having fun promoting Satoshi Dice on our show! Great, trusted site with all the features you need in a dice game.

Our first promo was a few minutes into this episode (https://youmeandbtc.com/bitcoin-podcast/trump-vs-hillary-the-race-to-tank-the-economy-boost-bitcoin-ymb-podcast-e143/). :)

Hi,
I am newly invested. But for me the site behaves strangely. First it took me a day to get registered.. I use mac Safari.. newest built. Also tried on iPad and iPhone..which strangely works best.
So..it took one day to register.. the pages would hang.. Then it took two days to invest and then a day to get my investment into the bankroll... Is this my problem or do you have server issues.

I haven't used this site for a while - in the past I invested fairly heavily with up to 10 BTC on the house, and enjoyed some nice returns -
However then I started to experience a few problems - for a while I was unable to log in and make withdrawals. This was resolved but it put me off investing anything other than very small amounts.
Thinking of giving it a go again - can anyone verify that it is still working reliably, i.e users are reliably able to make withdrawals, and payouts on investment are working as they should?

You are not the first individual to have issues with this site. I don't know why you are replying in this thread because there is one which is more current and has much more replies its located at

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.0

Apparently there are many issues with the site, especially the hot wallet which is almost always empty and lately the site seems offline more than online.

At the moment would be best not to make any new deposits and wait patiently for the hot wallet to refill so you can make your withdraw.

I have just made a transaction to fill the hot wallet. People can withdraw as soon as it confirms.

This forum thread is better actually better to use. The old thread is confusing since it was a different game at the time the thread was started.

Nice Christmas Spirit to DDoS and put the site down in the holidays. Was happy when I could finally login again and coins still available but I withdrew just to be safe.

I just logged in after ~3 weeks and my account is missing ~77.4 bitcoins that were invested in the site bankroll. My password also did not work. I reset password, which did work immediately, and upon logging back in the account created date was accurate but the user name was changed and the "last active" shows "0000-00-00 00:00:00"

Is there someone from Satoshi Dice I can communicate with directly about this matter? I'd really like to not lose this amount of money...

Besides one short PM two days ago w/ little information, I've received zero communication from Randian Hero or anyone from Satoshi Dice about being robbed for ~78 BTC. I hope this means they are busy conducting an internal investigation, but it's definitely starting to look bad on their end.

Ok, would be nice to hear anything about that, even if it's when I can next expect to hear something. The total silence is kind of painful when I have 78 btc on the line. On my end, I've seen no evidence whatsoever of my email being compromised. No unknown devices logged in and no persons had access to my devices.

It seems very strange that between the 27th (the day my account was compromised) and 1st, 600btc was divested and emptied from the hot wallet, pictured here: (not sure why image isn't inserting into post)

There's been some minor updates made to the website:

  • The last process of password recovery was working, but the password recovery page showed a spinning icon instead of indicating that the password was successfully updated. This has been fixed now.
  • The API had some old calls in it for recent rolls data. They are now updated to the current ones.
  • It is now more clear that winning one of the leader boards no longer gives a prize.
  • The game mechanics at the bottom of the API dcumentation (https://www.satoshidice.com/api/) had a missing % sign in it and has been clarified.

I highly advise you get your money off this site now....if you even can.

There's now two people who have had large sums stolen (~78 and ~48 bitcoin)
A hack by someone else seems unlikely considering you only need to look through this thread to see that that kind of money is never in their hot wallet.

The two accounts posting about the hack might be new btctalk accounts but I know each of them and can confirm they are telling the truth.

The fact support never replies to anyone, their hot wallet is always empty and they STILL don't have 2fa should put you off playing here.

The site has been sold many times over the years, each time at a loss to a new operator.

I warned everyone about this as soon as they opened the investment option.

It has now been confirmed by Eric Voorhees that he doesn't know the owners of the site.
So long term brand recognition means nothing.

There's still 2000 coins invested here. Get your money off while/if you still can.

This site is very likely a scam!

Dean, nice to have you back. I invested here. And I see that my 72btc became 66 btc in the last days.. but that may be through normal winning/loosing of some whales. I am very worried however that I loose money but the banks profit does not fall???

Good question! How can investors check if really a foreign customer won these 300+ Bitcoins? Where is the transparency?

Considering that larger amounts escaped from investors' accounts and satoshidice probably will be declared bunkrupt if victims initiate legal action, I would be not surprised if this 300+ Bitcoins win was an inside job.

From primedice website

Quote
MOST PROFIT MONTHLY

Noctis44: 53.25610045 BTC

Sin44: 51.36959127 BTC

Alleged win on satoshidice 6 x higher and exactly after large Bitcoin amounts escaped from investors' accounts! Very curious....

No idea why this thread exists when its not the main thread for Satoshidice, it would be best for this thread to get locked because its annoying checking these 2 main threads.

The main thread where the owner provides support is located at
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870

From time to time the owner chimes in and refills the wallet and answers some questions. However from a standpoint, I would say that support is virtually non-existent.

It's explained in the first post.
The old thread has outdated information in the OP which can't be removed by the new owners.

I've been updating in the other thread, but want to keep both threads up to date on the situation.

After 15 days of silence, Randian Hero has PMd me simply "someone got your password" with zero details or evidence. To summarize the ridiculousness of this:

- Myself and (at least) 2 other high balance investors had our accounts emptied out in the Dec 27 - Jan 4 time frame.
- During this time, you can see multiple people complaining about the hot wallet being empty, and being unable to cashout small amounts, like <1BTC.
- Yet the stolen amount is around 150 BTC between the three accounts - first noticed on 1/4 - and the implication is that these funds are gone, which makes no sense given how hard it was for anyone to get even small amounts off the site during that period.
- Even if the 3 investors were coincidentally compromised at the same time, given that there's no way that much could have been taken off the site in that time frame, it would have been extremely easy for them to freeze 90-100% of the funds until they figured out what happened.
- There was no mention of any email being sent my address about withdrawal requests or password resets. Presumably both of these things would have happened under a normal 'hacking' scenario.

At this point it is very hard to imagine any explanation but that the site has robbed us. It's almost pointless to try and communicate with them, since their response to a large robbery to is literally to PM short sentences every 15 days, that contain no meaningful information, and ignore everything else.

Jake,
I agree with you. Ask the (inexistent) support for you access logs, so you can figure out what happened. Ask the blockchain history of you address.. (that you can even look up yourself I think.. if you remember the addresses.. ). And.. for your amount they should provide a skype or fone that you can talk.. we are talking about 60k USD..
Hope you can figure it out..

Private information in the sense of satoshidice.com keeps this information secret or in the sense of investors receive this information per personal message or can see it within their investor account?

Dean, nice to have you back. I invested here. And I see that my 72btc became 66 btc in the last days.. but that may be through normal winning/loosing of some whales. I am very worried however that I loose money but the banks profit does not fall???

Looking at the charts:

https://dicesites.com/satoshidice

On Jan 11 they ostensibly lost 326 BTC, so that's probably where the drop comes from
Rhavar.. Thank you a lot for your answer.. Yes.. that makes sense...
That was this guy Underdog. See his statistics  https://www.satoshidice.com/user/ed10cec930365a1af6db2225843f6e36 (https://www.satoshidice.com/user/ed10cec930365a1af6db2225843f6e36)
He plays always 0,25 btc.. but when he wins he has a leverage of hundreds and when he looses he only has 0,16 x .
So. He signed up on 11 of January and won 300+ bitcoins in one run... Hey...GIVE ME A BREAK>> the guy know the server seed...Do you not think?? I am not so savvy in theses things.. but it seems fishy.. Any opinions? Or an explanation of Satoshidice...PLEAAAASE

So he won that much with 58% of luck?? That's really impossible without knowing the seeds or something. It smells.

https://www.satoshidice.com/stats/#slotGameCumulativeProfitSlot shows a 300BTC drop on Jan 11. It is from Slots not Dice.

AFAIK Satoshidice doesn't show profit of player, so we don't even know if Underdog has made a profit or loss. I don't see anything really suspicious here.

The same day this user account is created and wins a 303 BTC slot with untypical $250 bets = nothing suspicious?

This amount reduced from SatoshiDice investor account balances, while they do not invest in SatoshiSlot = nothing suspicious?

Investments cover both Satoshidice and Satoshislots. Wins and losses in Satoshislots affect investor balances.

If you cannot win a big multiplier, what is the point in playing slots?

The round links for Satoshislots https://www.satoshislot.com/round/1431336?nick=Underdog01253 etc are not working.

Yes, they reduced the SatoshiSlot 303 BTC win from SatoshiDice investor account balances. But according to the "Bet on the house" terms and conditions, investors do not invest in SatoshiSlot!

And if you reduce SatoshiSlot losses from investor account balances, while they did not invest = criminal offense of fraud!

Which part are you not able to understand?

Satoshidice scam, 500+ Bitcoins defrauded and disappeared! (https://game-protect.com/satoshidice-scam/)

If they commit criminal offenses towards their investors, what is the point of investing there?

If they commit criminal offenses towards their investors, why would anyone play there? I mean, why would you support criminals, but at the same time moan in the forums if you got cheaten by an operator?

Does this make any sense?

If you do not like to get cheaten, simply avoid the scammers, even if you personally are probably not cheaten when playing there.

Do not feed criminals, if you do not like it! The honest operators deserve your business...

Well its very difficult to say if they are scammers or not because on the other thread someone had a 72 BTC amount stolen. After much complaining the site eventually resolved the issue because the user commented that he was satisfied with the result.

So its really difficult to say if they are criminal or just plain lazy or disorangzied. If they were scammers then they wouldn't of sent him back the 72 BTC.

Bet on the House

You have the opportunity to be part of the House bankroll. The bankroll is the total amount that that players have placed to bet on the house and you are paid according to your percentage of the house's bankroll. The bankroll grows or shrinks in line with players losing or winning bets on the games at satoshidice.com. Satoshi Dice uses a 1.9% house edge and backers get 50% of the house wins or losses. The slot game uses a 3.5% edge. This means that the dice game gives a 0.95% Expected Value (EV) that is shared by the backers, and the SlotGame gives a 1.75% EV to the backers. Affiliate earnings, Leader Board rewards and other rewards are not paid by the backers, and there are no additional fees. Minimum amount to bet on the house is 0.001 and there is no upper limit.

The misunderstanding may be either because you are referring to a currently outdated T&C or they added the part later. It comes to whether or not the part was in there on Jan 11.

They added the slot part of course later. It was not stated in the "Bet on the House" terms and conditions January 11!

See also: SatoshiDice Investor Scam (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1758269.0)

As I already explained, SatoshiDice investors never invested in SatoshiSlots and it is the criminal offense of fraud to reduce this 303 BTC slot win from
SatoshiDice investor account balances and I can prove it!

Interesting. AFAIK slot game share the same bankroll as the dice game. 'Satoshi Dice's bankroll' mean the entire bankroll of Satoshidice, of both the games. 'Satoshidice uses a 1.9% house edge...' is inconsistent with the first sentence, it suggests they did not update the terms after they integrated slots into Satoshidice or am I wrong? Did they?

The site is now back up with the Dice edge changed to 0.9%

Thanks for your patience. Feel free to contact support with any queries. Good luck with your future rolls!

Do any other bitcoin dice sites allow investment too?

So what is your profit /loss over 6 to 12 - I didn't get a chance to read through all the previous pages

Is the dices sites website legit? Does it have accurate figures? Why do companies record their figures their? Wouldn't they want to keep them secret?

Many dice sites allow investment. For a list of trusted dice sites see https://dicesites.com/ (https://dicesites.com/)

That doesn't answer any of my questions - should I not ask them?

I dont understand

it's mainly to share risk with investors as well as increase the maximum bet limitations etc... since the bankroll participated by investors would raise the maximum bet by increasing the capital.

I don't think they are broke, but just lowering the risk and increasing total betting size available.

Yes. Some of my friends who have invested in the bankroll said the same thing. They are just lowering the risk of losing their funds.
SatoshiDice was one of the best dice games site in the past and hope will get good future.

Are you new to bitcoin? Correct me if I am wrong but I think this was one of the first bitcoin dice sites ever created. These are not the original owners however. This site was sold for record profit a few years ago.

Watch this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2821314/ if you want to know more about the site. Its featured in that Bitcoin documentary.

Once a domain name turned out as a scam, you can save your time and (investor's) money!

Its hard to say if it was a scam or not. They mostly had hosting outages. There was a gambler who couldn't withdraw like 70 BTC or so but his case finally was met with resolution.

I am not sure why this thread still exists when there is a more popular thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870

Whaat? They took the 303 BTC slot jackpot from dice investors because they had hosting outages?

Despite of this, no, there were no hosting outages in Curacao!

As far as I know I have no idea what happened to those investor funds and that mysterious huge whale gamblers who had a huge winning streak. There was a separate thread that a user created and I can't find it anymore. And its not listed on that other Satoshidice thread either.

Would be nice to figure out how that issue was resolved.

hey, as far as I have followed up, I was one of the guys invested and complaining about the whale winning it all.
I got my money out, their support started working, they payed off the guy who lost 70btc (probalby due to his own fault, phishing) and everybody was happy.
I have not since then gone back to satoshidice and when I checked yesterday the rebranded to megadice.. yepp

Actually we are very very very very sorry for the way in which Megadice let the SatoshiDice (https://satoshidice.com/dice) community down.

SatoshiDice (https://satoshidice.com/dice) is now under new, and completely trustworthy ownership with instant deposits and withdrawals, on our new provably fair system.

Or is it just a fake attempt from someone trying to look like SatoshiDice?  :o

So SatoshiDicePR can you give an explanation of what has been going on with this site in the past years?
It seems hard to trace the background of this business - Wikipedia just mentions it being sold once in 2013.
Seems a lot more has been going on to me. Used to keep a decent size deposit in the SD bankroll which gave me pretty nice rate of return but can't see myself doing that now unless there was a lot more transparency about what's been happening.

I do not think they can give you the exact answer but last time they said that they are already under new management which is really good on managing their funds and everything well. But until this day, no one ever claimed it that they really get those benefits for players

Basically its very difficult to see who the new management is.

Something happened prior to the management changing with the bank roll. Apparently some new user won alot of money and caused the bank roll investment profits to shrink.

We raised questions which were all unanswered. This happened months ago, ever since then its been going more and more downhill.
